I get on the computer and notice that Yahoo's main header on its home page has little Renew Reuse Recycle symbols in place of the oh's, and it goes from red to green... Cute...
I went to the grocery store this morning, and got a little booklet of coupons showcasing enviro-friendly products...
five years ago, people trying to do these things would have been patronized; ten, and they would have been laughed at; fifteen and they would have been outright attacked...
Funny how it suddenly sounds like a good idea when overwhelming evidence shows that hell in a handbasket is just around the corner.
Anyways. I'm making garlic confit! I broke down and got a container of already peeled garlic - which would make me feel dirty except for the fact that it's just waaay too time consuming to peel a pound of garlic - and am currently waiting for it to simmer ever so gently in a pot of oil. Sound yummy? It gets yummier. Not only do I end up with mushable garlic cloves that I can use for anything where I want roasted garlic (like just spreading a few cloves on bread - YUMMMM!) but also a batch of garlic flavored oil! And as an added bonus, my house will smell of garlic! By my overuse of exclamation points, I demonstrate my vibrating giddiness!!!
I broke down and bought cereal. I'd been trying to avoid it, since I've recently become convinced that cereal is bad for me, but who can resist when Fruity Pebbles begs to come home with you for only $2 a box?
I finally got to go to Whole Foods the other day, and now I have the nutritional yeast that is necessary for making my own vegan cheese. MUHAHAHA! Combined with culinary secrets stolen from the industry, I will soon make the BEST VEGAN CHEEZE EVAR! Tremble at my non-dairy power! I also saw the largest olive bar I have ever, um, seen... I seriously didn't know that there were so many olives to be had, and oh yes, I will have them...
