Okay. So, Mideel had been a bust. But once Zack had been given clearance to leave the clinic that they'd found there, he and Ino had hunted down transit to get them the hell out of there. It didn't even matter where, at this point. Civilization. Any continent would do, so long as it wasn't Wutai, and wasn't drowned in mako. Fortunately, for some

He decided, instead, to just conveniently lose some extra gil on the way out of down.
One thing could be said for the shopkeeper. He was certainly efficient at packing up their order for them. For all of the rummaging that he had to do to find it, really. Zack gave him a slightly shaky if thankful smile, paid him (tipped him), and then, with several more tents on his shoulders than he'd expected, made a quick heel-face-turn and started his march toward the edge of town. His PHS map pointed to a rope bridge leading to the old railroad tracks, and they could probably just follow those out until they made it to the plains on the outskirts of Costa Del Sol.
From there? Boat. Boat to Junon, which, hopefully, would be better. Right?
Nope. Thanks to a glitchy PHS map, Zack had mis-read it. Which meant that they were walking past a massive, defunct reactor that was plagued with monsters, after a long trek along broken, rickety railways.
"... I'm sensing a trend."
Just saying.

"You mean that trend where everything is destroyed and broken and we're kinda lost?"
Yes, Ino. That trend.
Reply
"At least there are plenty of... birds?"
Yes. And cockatolis. Such lovely wildlife in these parts. The bombs across the swinging rope bridge back there were especially charming.

Really. Three items. At least taking inventory would be easy?

"I think that's going to have to be our route," Ino said, though reluctantly. "We're not getting anywhere fast here."
No, they were getting more lost with every turn despite the map.

"At least this way, we can follow the stuff I tripped over on the way in until we get back to those railroad tracks."
Reply
"It's just 'cause you get impatient and stomp along without looking as carefully as you could," she said, because Ino hadn't been tripping over near as many things. Carefully, carefully. "And I don't know that he'd accept charity, but maybe we can sneak the plumes into his place?"

He had no doubt in his mind that someone had already ferreted it away.

They could be Gil fairies.

"I really don't think they're in any place to blow it," he agreed. "A place like that? Maybe they'll use it for... agriculture, or something."
Zack had fortunately never heard of Corel Ale. Which was generally the product of a desire to get drunk, when all that there really was at one's disposal was the 'or something' that was usually sitting around in a place like that. And potatoes.

Ino, in some ways, lived in a happy world where people made sense and did what was practical.

The landing would have sucked.
"So, there's our plan, then? We pass back through North Corel, camp back the way we came, and figure out if there's a better way to get to Junon from there in the morning?"
It really sounded like a better idea than pushing on past another burned-out reactor.

"That should be fine," she mused, as she peering at the tracks. "It's not like we're on a schedule, right?"

He hesitated for a moment, taking a few careful steps out onto the tracks again.
"Though..."
Reply
"Though?" she prompted. "Somethin' you wanted to do?"
