OMG
we had an earthquake around 4:30 this morning! It woke me straight up out of bed.
I woke up out of a sound sleep because the bed was shaking. When I was first waking up I thought the bed was shaking because an intruder was hopping into my bed, so I screamed and shot straight up. Once I got my eyes open I realized that there was no intruder (thank god) but the bed was still shaking. I thought there must be some really super-gusty wind outside, shaking the apartment. But after I stumbled blearily into the bathroom and back out, I looked out the window and realized there was absolutely no wind. What the hell?
I had gotten so scared that there was no way I was falling back asleep, so I just got up and watched a few adult swim cartoons I had on the DVR.
I honestly thought I might have had some kind of dream-hallucination or something. But then I flipped on the morning news and found out it was not my imagination after all. It was an earthquake! In the middle of the country!
They don't seem to have all that much information yet, but they are reporting that there are a few roads closed in the area due to bridge damage / debris.
Freaky! I've never been anywhere near an earthquake before. I realize we have the New Madrid fault line running through here (although THIS earthquake was actually *not* on that particular fault line), but still, around here an earthquake is like a once-every-100-years type of thing, it's not like they have out in Cali. So. I maintain -- freaky!!!
