Comments: I got instantly inspired once I was reading Frozen to Lose it All. It isn't a Ruki/Aoi fic, but it still touched me and my Aoi muse. I'm going to try to write a fic based on what I was feeling, so SORRY IF IT FEELS LIKE IT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE. D: I tried my hardest. AND, I don't understand why, but I picture Aoi like this and Ruki like this. ANYWAY, this fic is dedicated to hikari_ao_sai, because I feel exactly the same way that Aoi does when it comes to her and this is totally to make up for lack of My Life for You updates.
Disclaimer: As weird as it sounds, I don't want to own them. D: They love each other to much. [..A fangirl can dream.]

"It's such a bright night out," Aoi said as he looked up at the sky, arms wrapped around his thighs lightly as he pressed his chest against his legs. Eyes trained on the stars above, he couldn't help but smile as the stars winked at them, hanging in the velvet sky. Ruki wasn't watching the stars; on the contrary, his eyes were fixed upon the guitarist as he gazed up at the endless skies. It was something he always did whenever Aoi dragged him off to go sight-seeing, especially during times like these when they were one tour. He found the foreign sights around them calming, knowing that one of the reasons why Aoi loved to tour was because they visited so many places. It was true that they visited a lot of cities, none of them as big as Tokyo, but all having the same suffocating effect on the free spirit that the man that sat next to him posessed.

It wasn't necessarily the foreign cities that he enjoyed, oh no. It was the smaller town that caputred his interest, especially for sceneries such as this. They were the Kanagawa Prefecture, planning on preforming there the next night. Both Reita and Uruha were excited to be hope, constantly talking to the pair of them about the memories they had there, often forgetting that they were there after a couple of minutes of reminiscing; they had did the same thing that night, allowing Aoi to pull Ruki away so they could relax before the next live. It was how they ended up there, relaxing under the stars as they sat on the beach. Nature wasn't really Ruki's thing, usually preferring curling up with a book on the bed of his tour bus, but he wasn't complaining that Aoi dragged him out; it meant that he'd be able to spend time with the guitarist, something he found throughly enjoying.

Ruki finally managed to tear his gaze away from Aoi as he, too, looked up at the sparkling diamonds that seemed to hang flawlessly within the black display that was set up every night. Sighing contently, Ruki gently laid himself back against the soft sand, his eyes searching for different constellations that Aoi had pointed out to him on their previous expeditions, pointing them out and explaining what the different stars were. It surprised him to hear Aoi talk about them, revealing a vast amount of knowledge about the distant orbs twinkling above, but he had to remind himself that he was outside often, as much as his rampant life allowed him to be. Smiling to himself, Ruki gazed up at the Aries constellation hovering above them, remembering the first time that Aoi had pointed it out.

"Can you see it Ruki, those start over there?" Aoi's voice came to him, a small amount of excitement floating behind his words. Dark brown eyes followed the slender finger that pointed to a group of stars, a silent nod given once he had found it. "That's Aries; the first of the twelve greek zodiacal constellations. In Greek myth, Aries, the Ram, represents the animal whose fleece was sought by Jason and the Argonauts.

"Legend has it that King Athamus took his second wife, who was jealous of his children, especially his son. After burning the crops, she somehow managed to make the king believe that if he sacrificed his son, his people would be spared. Zeus had sent the ram with the golden fleece, Aries, to save him."

Ruki stared at the constellation as he listened to Aoi, surprised by how much knowledge he possessed. Vaguely wondering what other myths he knew about, he found himself searching the sky for another constellation, unable to find nothing but an endless amount of stars. When he looked back towards the stretch of black that held the group of stars that made Aries, he frowned when it seemingly disappeared. He wasn't able to find any other constellations without the guitarists help.

"Ruki?" Aoi asked suddenly. His eyes remained on the stars above them as Ruki looked towards him, a curious looking over crawling over his pale features. He waited for Aoi to speak, not wanting to break the elder male's train of thought. "Have you ever tried to count the stars?"

He blinked as he looked away, looking to the endless orbs of light that were scattered throughout the sky. Shrugging a little as he thought about it, he slowly nodded. "Once," he told him, dark brown eyes never breaking their gaze from above him. "I kept getting distracted, though. What about you?"

Aoi worried his bottom lip between his lips, a small shake of the head given as he watched a certain star twinkle. "Never."

"Why not?" Ruki asked, a bit surprised that Aoi have never tried to do that despite the amount of time he spent outside. He saw a small smile cross those pierced lips as the other sighed, relaxing back against the bench they were sitting on.

"Because," the other began, the smile never leaving his lips as he turned his eyes upon the vocalist. "I know I'd never be able to do it by myself."

The blonde gave a nod of understanding, looking away as he stared out, not at the sky this time, but the water that quietly rested beneath the pier.

"Yuu?" He asked softly, not having to look up to know that a surprised expression splashed itself along the guitarist's features from the use of his real name. Shifting almost uncomfortably under his gaze, he lightly played with the heavy rings that he wore from that day's preformance, never bothering to take them off. "Would you count them with me?"

He chanced a small glance to the other, relief washing through him when he saw that he was smiling. Giving a somewhat shy smile of his own when Aoi nodded, he looked away again, returning as gesture as he looked out to the water. "Good."

"I tried it the other day," Aoi's voice came, snapping Ruki out of his reverie despite how soft it was. Giving him a slightly confused expression, he pulled himself up and rested his arm on his knees, leaning forward slightly to get a better view of him.

"Tried what?" he asked, speaking for the first time since they arrived to the beach. He rarely ever talked, preferring to sit there and enjoy his time by watch Aoi and listening to what he had to say. Today was no different.

"Tried counting them." The tone in the guitarist's voice struck a chord in his heart, a mix between worry and an oddly familiar emotion he couldn't quite put a name on; it was something he hadn't felt in so long. He frowned slightly as his confusion grew, knowing what he was talking about, but un able to understand where it was coming from. "I couldn't get past the first one, that one." He pointed out to the brightest star hanging in the sky, the one that dimmed the surrounding stars.

"Why?" Ruki asked, looking away from it as he returned his focus on Aoi. He couldn't read the expression on his face, unsure if it was because he was lost in thought or because there were so many emotions within the older man's body, distracting him from feeling any certain one long enough to allow it to cross his features.

"Because," began the other, his voice hardly above a whisper as he watched the waves silently move along the shore, mere about a yard away from their bare feet. "That was the one star that shines the brightest; it kept my attention. I couldn't look away from it, no matter how hard I tried."

"I can see how that could happen," he said with a small smile, watching as Aoi hugged his legs closer to his chest. Reaching out, he gently ran his hand along his arm as he looked at the star. "It's the one that captures your attention, the first thing that catches your eye, ne?"

He saw Aoi nod before he bit his bottom lip. Looking over at him, he frowned when he saw how troubled he was by his own thoughts and getting the sudden urge to do something, anything to help him out.

"Yuu, what wrong?" He asked softly, gently moving his body a little closer so he could slip his arm around the elder male's shoulder. A content sigh was given as Aoi faintly leaned into the vocalist, his head resting on his shoulder while his eyes closed.

"I don't think I'll ever be able to count the stars," he said quietly, slowly releasing his own legs to wrap his arms around Ruki's waist. "Not when it reminds me so much of you."

"Me?" Ruki asked, a bit surprised by what he said. He couldn't supress the faint laugh that hovered beneath his words, his arm lightly squeezing Aoi's shoulders. "Why does that star remind you of me?"

"It's the one that shines the brightest, just like you," murmured Aoi, burying his head into his shoulder a little. "You may not talk as much as Kai or joke around like Uruha, but you're still the one that shines out above them all. You always have in my eyes."

Ruki was speechless, completely unaware that Aoi felt that way around him. Smiling, he gently ran his fingers through the brunette's hair, tenderly pampering as he sighed softly. "I didn't know that you saw me that way, Aoi. It..makes me feel special to know that at least one person sees me like that."

"You are special," Aoi said, gently pulling away to look at him. "You're special to so many people out there, but Taka..you--" He sighed faintly, fully pulling his body away from him as he rubbed his eyes a little and hugged his knees. "You hold an important place in my heart..As cliche as this may sound, I wasn't happy until I met you. You were able to show me to be myself, to make me shine with how bright you are..I love you, Takanori; I don't think I could ever imagine being without you again."

"Yuu, what makes you thing that I'm going anywhere anytime soon?" He asked softly, placing his hand underneath Aoi's chin and lifting his head so Ruki could be able to look into his eyes. "I'm not going anywhere at all; I love you too much for that to happen. You hold the exact same place in my heart. There's nothing that can take me away from you and no one that'll ever be able to compare to how much you mean to me."

"I just..don't want to lose you," He mumbled, closing his eyes as they began to tear up. Leaning against him, he rested his head against Ruki's shoulder, his body relaxing slightly when he felt his arm wrap around his shoulders again.

"You're not going to lose me," Ruki assured him quietly, his hand lightly running up and down his arm. "What's got you so terrified of that?"

Aoi hesitated for a moment, the frown creasing his lips to the pout of a small pout. Reaching up to rub his eyes again, he huffed faintly as he lightly shrugged. "I had a dream last night, as stupid as it sounds...you died because there...wasn't anything I could do to save you."

"Yuu..." Ruki said, looking down at him with a small smile. "Yuu, look at me." When Aoi slowly picked his head up, the blonde leaned down, pressing their lips together in a soft and tender kiss. He felt his heart flutter slightly, knowing that Aoi's did the same by the way the other silently gasped. After a moment, he pulled away, his smile growing a little more. "There's going to come a time where one of us will have to leave the other, but that doesn't mean we'll be gone. If I have to leave before you do, Aoi, just know that, whatever may come, it won't ever be your fault, all right? I promise you that you won't ever lose me, even when I pass on, all right?"

"How, though?" Aoi asked, bowing his head and closing his eyes again when he the tears burn his eyes once more. "People always say that they'll always be in someone's heart, and I know it's true, but what'll I do when I feel nothing but pain because you're not there anymore?"

"Simple," Ruki said, giving him a tender smile. "All you have to do is look up at the sky and look at that bright star; I'll always be with you. Even when you're just feeling lonely and I'm not able to get to you, just watch that star and, before you know it, I'll be near you, hugging you just like this, maybe closer."

He smiled when he saw Aoi's smile, holding him closer as Aoi wrapped his arm around his waist again. Kissing the top of his head, he lightly nudged the brunette, pointing to the brightest star.

"You see that star, right?" He received a nod. "Now, look to the right of it, do you see the star closest to it? It may not be as bright as the first one, but it's slowly getting there..those are our stars, okay? They'll always be there, telling you that, no matter where I am or where I'll go, I'll always be near you, one way or another.

Aoi smiled as he nodded, hugging Ruki as he closed his eyes and sighed faintly. "Thank you, Takanori.."

"It's no problem, Yuu," he said, his own smile growning. "And you don't have to worry about counting the stars."

"Why not?"

"Because," he said simply, looking down at him and into those curious brown eyes. "We're the only stars that truly matter.

A/N:
01. H'OKAY. I had to do a bit of research for the whole constellation thing. D: PLEASE DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME. I always have been instrested in starts and Aoi seems like that type to be, too, especially with how free-spirited he is.
02. Please don't kill me for being a sap. ;~; I wanted to write something fluffy.
03. Thank you SO MUCH to batskull-69 on LJ for inspiring me to write this. The line that Ruki gave was practically the idea for all of this. :3 I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT. Comments = love.
