I was taught to be kind to others by my parents both in word and deed.
I was taught to be nice to others and polite.
That all human beings were deserving of respect.
I have tried to live by this code my entire life. It can be hard at times but over the years I have developed a pretty good poker face in must lie at all costs situations.
I compliment strangers, friends, and family. It is amazing how much a simple compliment can pick up someone’s day. I have also learned a lot about the world because I make the effort to let others tell me their stories.
Listen to people, I mean really listen to the tone of voice and the word choice because you can pick up on cues that, even though they say everything is fine, help you find out what is going on.
I am a good stage manager because I listen to people and let them know I have heard them. I have also been called firm but fair.
A kindness is something you can give for free to help others. Being nice doesn’t cost a penny.
I am glad when I can do a favor for a friend. I ask for nothing back. I am not a tit for tat person.
Right now, with all that is going on, wouldn’t be better if we were kind to each other. At the core we are all human beings worthy of respect.
I am grateful for the lessons my parents taught me.
