[Action ; 1765 Beaver Street]

[Good morning, house. Upon coming down to the kitchen, you will find several cupboards open and some random kitchenware scattered around on the counter. By the dining table is a redheaded woman in ponytail wearing glasses, looking awfully scornful with a sewing kit as she fusses over a white blouse ( Read more... )

[Yomiko takes a moment to notice that and before she can say anything about it, that secondhand smoke fills her lungs and she ends up coughing--]

... Um... [cough cough] E-Excuse me! Smoking is really bad for your health! [SUCH A DO GOODER.]

[oh...

Okay she sort of does feel bad but still this is the park! She'll pull the cig away and take some care so that it's at a distance from Yomiko before addressing the other meganekko.]

Oh, thank you for your concern, miss, but I'll be fine. This is a park though, so naturally it's a good place to take a breather. ...But do you have business here? If you do, I can go somewhere else.

[Yomiko almost, no, she kind of flails as if she made a huge mistake.]

N-no, it's alright! I was simply passing by, I didn't mean to disturb you! Unless you really want some company around... I haven't seen your face here before.

Oh, not at all! I did just wake up here today, so I'm new in town. I read the introductory pamphlet already, but someone who's not a drone would surely be able to tell me more. If you're not in a hurry, I would very much like some company. I'm sorry for startling you, too! Ah, if you'll give me a minute, I'll put the smoke out. I won't do it while we talk, promise!

[Gives a nod and a little bow.] Mm... It would be appreciated, miss. I'll be happy to tell you as much I know about Mayfield!

[A beat.] What's your name if I may ask?

[Okay going to squeeze the flame out on the rim of the nearby trash can before tossing it in, there done.]

I'm the one who appreciates your help, mm! Thank you for your time. My name is Touko, Aozaki Touko. What about you?

[Gives a polite bow before sitting beside her on the bench.]

My name is Yomiko Readman. It's very nice to meet you.

It's very nice to meet you too, miss Readman. ...Oh, may I call you Yomiko-chan? The glasses fit you, and they make you look very cute! [TOTALLY RELATED... She'll adjust her own though, looking quite sunny as before.]

[Giggle] I was just teasing, but you really are cute. Yomiko is fine too, but whatever you prefer. Honorifics do get weird in America, don't they? So what would you like best?

[fff turning pink again] That's correct. If Yomiko is easier for you, then that's perfectly fine with me!

I don't mind either way, though it won't hurt to be traditional, Yomiko-chan. Now if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been in town, and how has it been for you so far? ...Oh, I did find the pamphlet, so I read up a bit on Mayfield already, but I figured that asking others for their firsthand experiences would be better, you know?

Oh! I understand! It's been a few months for me and it feels like the plot of a science fiction novel that I read once. There was one case where I had to help out with fighting this giant robot! Em... If you believe in giant robots that is... Other than that, everyone here is very interesting!

Haha, something tells me that belief won't really matter in a place like this. This is admittedly an inconvenience, but if things are interesting, then I don't mind staying for a bit. How has your daily life been, Yomiko-chan? Even if the time and place is 1950ies America, other people like us must makes things lively when the town isn't doing anything, would that be right?

That's dead on right! My daily life is usually very quiet and peaceful. I have all the time in the world to read my books.

Hehe, a bookworm, I see. Are the books here really interesting, though? I haven't gotten the chance to look for myself just yet, but rumors say that the library's contents change depending on the person that visits them. Is that true?
