[Here is a level 1 Long Arm with Thunder Wave Symbols on his arms. His name is Bass, sounds like "base" synonym for HQ and not a fish. Derrick based the looks on that kid he met in the future, though he didn't feel right dressing the character in blue.]

[Right now, he's just trying to get some help. He's died four times trying to party on his own. =(]

[Ryoga selected the Heavy Axeman class because, well, he's a real life tank, so he decided to go with what he knows. His avatar's name is Boar, and Ryoga's not the most inventive soul, so Boar has black hair, brown eyes, and a penchant for wearing yellow and black.]

[He hasn't been able to make much progress on his own, either, but he did manage to pick up a little EXP when he accidentally wandered out of town and managed to beat a few very weak monsters. He's still level 1, though. He does not regret the large amount of HP inherent to his class at all.]

Are you looking for party members?

I've been thinking about trying to beat a dungeon, but it would probably be easier with more than one person. [It might also be easier to find a dungeon. The map system of "The World" makes about as much sense to Ryoga as all other maps, which is to say none at all.]

[Ryoga reflects over what he can remember about the class information he read while he was deciding.] I think it should be. I'm a level 1 Heavy Axeman, and I think your class has a bit more mobility than me. That should be helpful against faster enemies because I'm pretty slow, but I hit hard if I can get a shot in.

[It occurs to Ryoga that neither of them is a ranged fighter.]

We might want to see if we can find a Wavemaster eventually too, but for now we ought to be okay. I think...

[Derrick starts going to the Chaos Gate so they can warp to a field. Hopefully he'll find some low level keywords to use...]

[Ryoga shrugs at the name comment.] Could be worse, I suppose. Mine's... kind of an inside joke.

[Ryoga is extremely glad that Bass seems to know where he's going and obediently follows.]

[Derrick enters the keywords randomly, and it leads to a level 5 field. He looks at Ryoga for advice.]

... You think that'll be too high?

[It's the lowest Derrick has generated, but... chances are, they'll be too weak without more people or using a lot of items they probably don't have.]

Um... [Looking at it mathematically, 1+1=2, which is clearly lower than 5.] Probably. There's really only one way to find out, so we can either take a shot or head back into town and look for some more people.

[Ryoga's starting to feel just frustrated enough to want to try taking it out on a monster--any monster--but it probably wouldn't be very wise.]

If it's a level 5 field, do you suppose that means all the monsters are level 5, or that they're all 5 or lower? [They might have a shot if they're lucky enough to run into something weaker.]

Don't think I have much to lose if I die for a fifth time.

[That could be seen as optimistic or pessimistic. Basic equipment, no exp, etc.]

[Ryoga cracks his knuckles, checks the back harness for his axe to be sure he can draw it quickly if he needs it, and nods.]

Sounds like a plan.

[He takes a deep breath, lets it out slowly, and steps up to the Chaos Gate.]

Okay. Now we just find the monsters...

Right. They could be anywhere, ri--WHOA![Ryoga spots the monster in just enough time to hop back out of the way of a slash.]

[He draws his weapon an prepares to counter attack.]

Looks like it's just this guy for now, Bass! We'll probably do better if we can divide his attention! I'll attack from this side if you want to take another angle! [He probably doesn't need to be yelling, but he blames the adrenaline.]

[Without further ado, he charges back toward the monster, slashing with his axe at the same time.]
