It was a long flight from New York to California, which gave Hajime a lot of time to rest, and simmer down from the irritated state that the confrontation at the airport had left him in. It also gave him time to think things over, and more time yet to then get frustrated again as he did.

Mentally, physically, and spiritually, Hajime was just tired. He was tired of having to worry about everything, and with the tentative resolving of issues with Jack, he was just too tired to let Derrick bring up yet more. He was not going to stand for this.

Derrick had made a point of evading them, but in the hotel there was plenty of time to track the boy to his room. Hajime stood in front of the door and frowned at Jack. "I take it a boy genius like yourself can open the door without blasting it off its hinges?"

As far as Jack had been concerned, the flight had been a time for sleeping while listening to obnoxiously loud rock music on his MP3 player, easily ignoring whoever was sat next to him even when they continually bugged him about turning the sound down. It was a art he had mastered thanks to long plane rides to whatever stupid function his parents wanted him to go to, back when they still bothered to make a public appearance as the perfect family.

Sleeping helped him take his mind off whatever that was that happened in the airport. He hoped it would all go back to the way it had been before, if enough time passed; Hajime and he basically not knowing each other, and the same with he and Derrick, and he could go back to being evil and all would be right with the world.

In the back of his mind he knew it wouldn't be over that easily, but a guy could dream.

Sure enough, he had been in the hotel for all of five seconds when Hajme was at his door, insisting that they go see Derrick. Jack knew that the other redhead didn't want to talk to ( ... )

When Derrick heard the sounds of the door, he expected his roommates entering the room. However, the tunes behind the door told him otherwise. He had little time to prepare or anything. Derrick remained at the small table with his notebook before him and opted for the neutral expression.

"... Hi." It was obvious why they were here, mostly. Derrick turned his gaze to the scribbles in the notebook again. Maybe if he pretended everything was okay, they would leave him alone. "What is it?"

To be fair, Hajime didn't really want to be here as much as a teacher didn't want to call in parents of an unruly student in for a frank talk. But hopefully the result would be an outcome they could all be satisfied with.

The keyword there was hopefully.

Hajime entered behind Jack with his arms crossed. "Evening. Hope you had a comfortable flight after all that. You didn't seem to be in much of a good mood where last we left off." He cocked his head to one side, frowning. "I was hoping we could clear the air. Again."
