The caves and forests will be hard to navigate, even without the storm itself. Would you rather have me open the northern path once I obtain the badge? I have no doubt Squall would also be willing to do so.
It might be easier, but with Zidane traveling back to meet with Dagger, it would be more efficient if I were to travel ahead and obtain my badge as well.
[Besides, waiting around in the city is getting tiring.]
In that case, I might as well go down to Azalea and obtain my third badge quickly. We'd probably end up meeting in that area, unless one of the roads gets blocked.
And within Union Cave, you need not fear the snow, only the cold. I won't have nearly that much cover, but on the other hand I'll be able to resupply in Goldenrod. I'll bring additional Ice Heals, just in case.
