The president of the council is Tim LaHaye, who is also president of Family Life Seminars of El Cajon, Calif. Mr. Viguerie and Mr. Phillips are members of the council's executive committee, along with Paul Weyrich, head of the Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress.
Among the members of the council are Morton C. Blackwell, special assistant to President Reagan for public liaison; Robert Billings, a former leader of Moral Majority who is now an aide at the Department of Education; Joseph Coors, head of the brewery and a donor to many conservative causes, and Senator John P. East, Republican of North Carolina.
Other members include Ed Fuelner, head of the Heritage Foundation; Nellie Gray, head of the March for Life, an antiabortion group; Herbert and Nelson Bunker Hunt of the Hunt Energy Company; Reed Larson of the National Right to Work Committee; Ed McAteer, president of the Religious Roundtable; Bill Saracino of Gun Owners of American and Phyllis Schlafly of Stop ERA.

Mrs. Schlafly, who is staying in Ramada Inn suite protected by an armed guard, is coordinating much of the opposition to the Government - sponsored women's conference. She has predicted that the conference will be “the death knell of the women's liberation movement.”
The rally speakers also included two Texas‐born women who now head the country's, largest anti‐abortion groups: Dr. Mildred Jefferson, a Boston surieon who is iresident of the National Right to Life Committee, and Nellie J. Gray, a Washington lawyer who is president of March for Life.
“I actually weep that we have to have a rally such as this in America,” said a wet‐eyed Miss Gray, who held a red rose representing an unborn child as she spoke. “The women‐libbers are trying to dress up abortion, but no matter how you dress it up, it comes down to killing a baby.”
The participants, who gave rousing standing ovations to every speaker, overflowed the Astro Arena, which has a capacity of 10,000, and is part of the sprawling Astrodome Complex. C.V. Thompson, supervisor of security, said he closed the hall when 15,000 people had been let in, and that several thousand had been turned away.
Clay Smothers, a black State Representative from Dallas, drew some of the loudest cheers when he called for “victory over the perverts in this country.”
“I want the right to segregate myself from these misfits and perverts,” he said. “I'm sick and tired of the Presidents’ wives flim‐flamming with these perverts,” he added in a reference to the fict that Rosalynn Carter, Betty Ford and Lady Bird Johnson appeared at the opening session of the women's conference. <...>
Among the groups represented were Stop E.R.A., the Eagle Forum, the Conservative Caucus; the National Right to Life Movement, March for Life, the National, Council of Catholic Women, the Mormon Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the John Birch Society.

March for Life.

Every year since 1974, thousands of anti-abortion activists from around the country have marched from the White House Ellipse to the Capitol in protest of the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion. But no sitting Republican president has ever made the trip from the White House to the National Mall for the event, instead generally opting to address the group via video or phone message - sometimes from just a few hundred feet away.
“It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March for Life,” Trump said. “We are here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.”
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar also attended the event, along with several elected officials.
Trump, who described himself in 1999 to NBC as “pro-choice,” has been supportive of the rally in the past. He has addressed the group via video message and has sent Vice President Mike Pence to attend the march in person, making him the first sitting vice president to do so.
His decision to attend the event on Friday comes as he faces an impeachment trial in the Senate and as he works to shore up his political base ahead of his 2020 re-election campaign. Anti-abortion conservatives and evangelical Christians were key to Trump’s winning coalition in 2016, with his team viewing them as a core element of his 2020 base.
Trump announced that he would attend March for Life just days after the Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion political action group, said it planned to spend $52 million in the 2020 election cycle to help his re-election and aid the campaigns of anti-abortion Senate Republicans.
Organizers for March for Life praised Trump on Friday as the “most pro-life” president in history, a title Trump warmly embraced as he ticked through actions he has taken as president to limit access to abortion.

Azar couldn’t get through to Trump to speak with him about the virus until Jan. 18, according to two senior administration officials. When he reached Trump by phone, the president interjected to ask about vaping and when flavored vaping products would be back on the market, the senior administration officials said.

China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!

At a dinner in November, as impeachment hearings were in full swing, the Pompeos dined with former Major League Baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth, American Gaming Association President Bill Miller and Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, the influential anti-abortion rights lobbying organization. The Malaysian ambassador and Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., a key defender of Trump during the impeachment proceedings, rounded out the list.
Then there was the dinner in May 2019 that occurred after Trump stormed out of an infrastructure meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who accused him of throwing a "temper tantrum." Among those invited for the next evening's dinner were Fox News host Laura Ingraham; the E.U. ambassador; Republican power couple Matt and Mercedes Schlapp and Chick-fil-A Chairman Dan Cathy, a major donor to campaigns against same-sex marriage.
"The CEO of Chick-fil-A is not someone I would say is involved in foreign policy," a person with knowledge of the dinner said.
NBC News obtained a master guest database that details each guest's name, title, spouse, dietary restrictions and dates of invitation and acceptance. The database runs from July 2018, a few months after Pompeo was sworn in, through the start of 2020.
