Gah, first day of classes today. Don't ask me why we started on a Friday; it's the military, it doesn't have to make sense

Winter break was, in a word, fantastic! Home after a physics exam (don't ask me how I managed a B in the class, I haven't a clue), then straight out to Sculpture Garden with Laura. Quite possibly the best way to spend an evening, in my humble opinion. Deer hunting starting that Sunday night: didn't see a damn deer all day. Did see a snake though--why there was a damn snake up there in December is beyond me--and almost blew its head off from two feet away. The only reason I missed was because I was about four feet in the air at the time--snake hisses are very surprising, especially when you think they're all GONE for the season!

Natural History Museum on Tuesday was great too. Not just because I was there with an absolutely wonderful person (though that was a big part!), but also because I hadn't been there in ages! Dinner at Grandma's on Wednesday with Jorj and Becky too, since I might not see them before they head off for two years in Germany. That's where I saw the deer: a 6- and a 10-pointer standing in her damn driveway eating the ivy, every bit of 200-250 pounds. Seriously considered gunning the van to get one; wasn't carrying at the time. We need to plant some at Big Mac; that'll attract the things lickety split.

Christmas...well, it was dramatic, as is any occasion when you cram the Einbinder/Owen clan together for a significant period of time. Still, the cousins' new dog is amazingly cute, and fun to play with.

Audrey's 21st birthday was a smashing (yes, that was intentional) good time. Haven't seen her or some of the others in too long.

The icing on the cake though was of course New Year's. Three days of unsupervised activity, including (but not limited to):

--Massive amounts of fireworks
--Boat rides with a fucked up motor
--Dueling sword-to-machete
--Massive amounts of fireworks
--Cranium
--Apples To Apples (is my new favorite game; the "Lucky" card)
--Bonfires + kerosene = fun
--Back massages and messed-up hairstyling
--etc.

(did I mention the massive amount of fireworks?)

Last hurrah Tuesday all day. Let me just say that you wouldn't believe Return of the King works well as a movie for two, but it does. Between that and more Apples To Apples at Bayly's (the "Misunderstood" and "Chewy" cards), oh yes; a better way to end the break I can't imagine.

Now it's back to the grind. At least it shouldn't be as terrible as last spring. Drop me a line some time!
