I wish I had one. Maybe if I talk to the garden snakes, one of them will invite one of them over to hang out in my garden and keep my plants happy?
I planted three tomato plants this year, with varying ripening dates. The speediest one already has tomatoes on it. My plan is to have a continuous flow of tomatoes once we reach peak season. I pruned those three today. Picked the ripe strawberries, watered the front beds and pots. Planted two of my armenian cucumber starts in the box as well. We'll see if they take off. If they don't I might just get more tomatoes. :p
Ryan and I went to Costco and he decided we needed a resin wine barrel. His reasoning was that he thought the plastic white bucket I'm growing potatoes in is an eye sore. So I said, "Ok, dear," and he put one in the cart. The potatoes have indeed sprouted quite a bit and need a good layer of soil. moving them into the wine barrel used up the soil we had so we will have to get another bag and finish. I just made sure there was at least a light covering of soil over the sprouts until I can get another bag and dump more into the pot. In theory, when it's time to harvest, I will dump the soil into the bed next to it and thereby, adding more soil and nutrients to what is there.
My pumpkin plants are coming up nicely. Planted the third cucumber back in that bed as well and we'll see what we get. The salad greens are starting to flesh out and should be a nice addition to salads when it is ready.
We still have quite a bit of pruning to do. My hip was not happy with me though. I think I must have moved it out of alignment again while camping. Time to call the Chiro on Monday and make an appointment to get adjusted. Maybe also a massage. Though the latter might have to wait as I just got a tattoo and my left shoulder blade is a bit sore from the healing process. You can see it here:
The picture isn't too clear but the butterfly is a violet blue. I got it done at the tattoo convention happening at the Hilton in Eugene through today. It's in memory of Ryan's mom.
What else going on in life? I've started Weight Watchers at work. It's covered by my insurance, which is a nice perk. Hopefully I'll see success. I'm on day 4 and I've been able to stay within my points and have only used 9 of the extra flub points we get to use throughout the week. We had a ragu with spaghetti and meatballs last night and that didn't break the bank. It also helps that I got the tofu spaghetti that is 0 points and adds protein. Even Ryan said it was good.
Ryan is also doing the weight watchers with me, unofficially. I looked up the information for him to figure out his daily points and such and I made a spreadsheet to track. Now if he'll just be honest with me and tell me what he eats at work, lol.
I also signed up for an online continuing education course. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my student ID number for the form I need to send them. I have the Moodle log in directions but haven't started the class yet. I will likely start tomorrow. I've been busy and I just want to be lazy.
