I heard about this earlier this week -- this post in the AV Club pointed to This NYTimes article about some of the injuries and the "compensation" the kids got and all that.

Can't we all just watch Star Trek:Miri to see how kids react without "grups"? Bonk Bonk on the head!!

More on it: http://www.slate.com/id/2172697/

Also, I liked what one mother posted in the Televisionwithoutpity.com forum about this: I wouldn't let my child be on this, even if they wanted to, just because I know about reality tv -- someone is always cast/edited as the asshole. And I couldn't guarantee it wouldn't be my child.

Eh... we shall see.

Someone might see...but it won't be me. And I had much the same "Lord of the Flies" thought.

What gets me is what moron parents would allow their child to do this? The possibilities for disaster is astronomical!

What kind of scares me is the effect this whole thing will have on their psyche and social skills later on in life.

> A 15 year old will have serious tactical advantage of someone below age 10 as far as social skills goes, which leads to political prowess and possible bullying.

My guess is, that was done deliberately, to try and provoke exactly such a response. Will the older (or, at least, bigger) kids try to exert a physical advantage over the smaller kids?

If I had any illusions that there would be any actual "reality" in this "TV," I'd consider watching it, if for no other reason than I have an interest in social behavior patterns. But I'm guessing most of the kids have agents, there will be adults providing "incentives" for the kids to make "good TV," and so on.

Don't schoolyards provide ample evidence of the behavior of bullies?
