Long time no update!
So what happened this semester? In a sentence (or two): Came back to school to face the reality that a significant portion of my friends were studying abroad or taking the semester off(something like 14 of them), enrolled in a bookmaking class in which I've been quite prolific, did an independent study which taught me that I have no self-motivation, saw the Whitney Biennial in NYC, said goodbye to the Schenks who moved to Michigan, turned 21,and helped Ben and Trina move.
The latest good news is that Ryan and I have an apartment on the cape!
this is the description as it appeared on the Woods Hole community housing listing:
Huge 2 Plus Bed Room Apartment,
Bright Sunny First Floor, Awesome Kitchen,
Partially Furnished Outside Shower, Decks,
Walk to Quissett Campus through Conservation Trails.
Includes All, Heat, Electric, Water, Cable
Great Garden Spot Year Round Rental-First-Last &
Security No Smoking Quiet Victorian Home.
Ryan called up the guy, who mentioned he was giving tours the next day (this monday evening). We drove the 2 hours down to Woods Hole just after class, and arrived at this nice victorian/colonial house with white siding and red shutters. We found that the place had some perks that weren't mentioned in the listing; in addition to the two bedrooms there was also a den and a sun room that opened up onto a deck. The kitchen is huge, with an island, new stove, countertops and fridge. The bathroom has a Whirlpool tub, and it comes partially furnished!
We were pretty amazed and overwhelmed - it's the whole first floor of a house! I kind of thought our application wouldn't be accepted; the people touring after us had kids, which seemed like it would be a better fit. Also the owner was willing to consider pets, but he needed REFERENCES for them. However, that night Ryan filled out the rental application and emailed it in, along with three references for the CAT - my parents, ryan's parents and our roommate Tim. The next morning (yesterday) at 7:15 Ryan got an email saying "Hey Ryan, you're cool and the cat's cool - call me up to talk about deposits and lease signing" - so Ryan did, and now we have a cool apartment!
