i have been asked to explain myself on my away message and other message board rants.
i love america. seriously i'm grateful for what i have (the english language anyone?) and what i'm allowed to do and say and wear...etc... compared to almost anywhere else. my best friend was shinto (yes thats a religion) in elementary school... where else could you have that?

and on that day, i was as confused/sickened/sad/frightened/confused still/mad/anxious as anyone else. especially not knowing where my uncle was for awhile. and seeing the names on tv of people known dead... kids known dead.
but then comes the hypocrisy. the god bless america-ness, the redwhiteandblue. what does it really mean? i think its cool because i think the attacks really did bring us all closer, make us all a little nicer as a nation... but everyone had to jump on the bandwagon, buy a flag to be patriotic. laker fever all over again.
maybe cuz i live on the other side, i dunno. i mean its affected me, it's affected everyone. i think osama is a big jerkoff. stupid taliban and al quaeda and all that ish. but we as Americans... we have made improvements in showing that we stand for what we believe in, we will help eachother in any crisis. we are resilient in anything. but on the same token... we showed that we are the same people into commercialism and conformity. market everything toward patriotism... it's the year of americana. well everyone has a flag bumper sticker on their car, maybe i should too (no offense to whoever has one that is reading this unless you put it on your car for that reason).

an abercrombie and fitch store held a store meeting in april, showing a video of their new summer and fall lines. one of the workers asked, "but where are the clothes? the manager replied, "our winter and spring lines were more conservative in respect to september 11. but people are over that now, so we will return to normal."

and away we go.
