You know, back in early 2020 when the world had just gotten wind of this mysterious new illness detected in Wuhan, us medics in healthcare were already freaking the fuck out, right, because we were already very much due for another world-altering infection.
And back then my mates and I had the general medics' expectation: This thing is going to burn through the world population, then maybe in 6-9 months a third of the world would be dead and the survivors would be picking up the pieces. A terrible outcome but all in the span of 6-9 months.
Then I had a nightmare during a 5-minute nap at work. In it I was asked the question, "So how long before things are back to somewhat normal?" and nightmare!me automatically answered, "No sooner than 2023."
BOOM, I woke up gasping. 2023?? Forget 2020 altogether! 2021 can go the fuck home! 2022, I don't know you! See you in 2023??
Welp. Here we are, I guess. I'm finally catching up on One Piece (my poor baby Sanji 😭). The world is open for travel again. My favourite author has been spitting out 400-page books like nobody's business. Plus a bunch of fun movies! Also it took some self care and a lot of medications, but my mental health now is the best it's been since... 2005? I mean, it's still not that good but I'll take the occasional thoughts of death over the regular suicidal ideation and constant catastrophising.
Bring it on, 2023!
