ok so the retreat was fun, i don't know if any of you have been to camp hemlock but it was a lot like that. we did high ropes the first day. the first thing we did was crossing this valley on two wires one thats above you to hold on to and one below you to walk along of course you are rigged up to a harness so its perfectly safe. it was easy for me cause i've done it before but it was still a lot of fun. then we hiked up to this thing they call the cargo net. it was that huge rope like you used to climb in gym in elementary school in a huge net. and it was hanging and it draped down to the ground. now you could crawl up the front like you were climbing ships riggings, or you could climb up upside down so its like you are doing a lot of pull ups. actually you could use your legs a lot on the upside down one too, so it wasn't totally upperbody strength. i did the upside down one, and so did all the guys in my group, only tow other girls made it up to the top upside down. i think i used my arms then more than i had in years. and the last thing we did that day was this tree climb thing which was fun because you had to climb the tree (it had hand holds on it but they got smaller and fewer as you got to the top) and then you had to stand on this platform and jump off and ring a bell and then the instructors lowered you to the ground. We got back to the lodge and had dinner and then this kid noel (rhymes with dole) and i tried to take some kids on a snipe hunt but too many came and it wasn't working, but i did get this one kid doug, and after he was out there awhile and came back i told him what was going on so that he can do it to one of his friends when he goes home on break. It was a lot of fun. and then the second day we did team building activities. the first thing we did was we had to balance all eleven of us from my group on a platform of wood that was about one and a half foot square, we were given fifteen minutes and it took ua a half hour. and then we did the spider web and it was a ton of fun, i got lifted up the most because the guys decided i was the lightest, even though this girl named kelly could not have weighed more than me, but hey it was fun so there were no complaints. we got back yesterday at about seven in the evening and jennie and i went down to get dinner and it had been over at six thirty so we were mad they didn't feed us so we went back to my room and made soup in our hot pots. and then we went for a walk until about eleven or so. and today has just been finishing check in things opening our post office boxes actually making down to the caf for breakfast and lunch. i'm having a pretty good time here and i'm sure it will be even better once classes start on monday.
