Well, it's the first snowfall of this new season. And holy crap it's still snowing hard. We're under a winter weather advisory until 7PM here.
STEP ONE
~ Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
~ If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
~ Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.
STEP TWO
~ Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
~ If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
~ You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My list (Since I've already told ma what I need, these are just superfluous wants, most of which are fandom-related with a couple that are actually tangible):
1. A Rai-Dei the Blade icon made from a scan of the Trigun Maximum manga. Preferably, just not his death scene.
2. Something of my favorite fandoms: Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun, DBZ, Megaman, KOF (King of Fighters), Ace Attorney, NCIS, or House MD, be it lulzy icons, macros, the screenshot that keeps escaping me for making an icon (especially for NCIS, House, or DBZ), or some random fic/art (AU, crack, fluff, or anything).
3. The new Bon Jovi album, The Circle.
4. A songfic involving Tip of the Iceberg by Owl City.
5. A Chamethrawer (it's a combination of chainsaw and flamethrower) sig that I can use on the Protomen forums.
6. Something as simple as conversation. Keeps me from getting bored out of my mind when I've got someone to talk to/geek out with.
7. Pictures of nature, involving birds. Bird photographs make me happy. I've got most of what's been in National Geographic.
8. Really specific thing fo once warning: I want a fic where Crashman somehow ends up in Gurren Lagann. Because that would be hilarious.
9. Another really sepcific thing fo once warning: Rule 63/genderswap art of three certain characters that I've never found genderswap art of: Midvalley the Hornfreak (Trigun), Bardock (Dragonball Z), or Tarble (Dragonball Z). Seriously. Chick!Midvalley would be awesome, fem!Dock would be epic win, and fem!Tarble...well, that'd thrill me unlike fem!Vegeta (which I've seen a ton of already).
10. A random assortment of fandom-related napping icons. I can never have enough icons of characters napping. (I've already got Abby Sciuto, Bardock, Duo Lon, Klavier Gavin, and Wolfwood. Preferred ones I don't have: Anthony DiNozzo, Shen Woo, Ash Crimson, Hobo!Phoenix Wright, Knives, Gregory House, Vegeta, Majin Buu (any form of him), or Roy Mustang.)
Most of the people in my dorm building haven't had much holiday spirit. We're totally taking snits at each other, it seems. Even I'm not immune. I'll roll eyes at someone and mutter bitch if they slow my elevator descent lately. Tensions seem to be running high. It's probably because of finals. Not surprised.
I'll try to do what I can for anyone else who feels like making out a list like this or who has already made a list out like this. Can't promise all of it will be done and up before new year because of stuff like finals and Christmas Break without wireless internet (Our router is broken).
