Rrr...Stanford's essays are all twice as long as everybody else's. Non-interview-granting jerks!
In any case, I got my application to them in on time. Now I just need to trim my essays to work for the MIT and common apps. *sigh* At least it was a rather interesting, soul-searchin' experience. And you turn yourself around--that's what it's all about.
Reed just called me. I'm going to go rock climbing after tutoring--whoa!!! It should be pretty fun, even if I'll be even more sore afterwards. I told him that I couldn't go immediately because I had to get ready, and he said "What!? Tons of climbers go straight from the sleeping bag to the rock! Showering is frowned upon!" to which I said, "Whoa, sounds like my kind of sport!" Ha ha ha ha ha.
I went to the OHS concert last night with Andy T. It was pretty good--"Wind Orchestra" played Praise Jerusalem, which is a super powerful piece. Plus there were plenty of girls that gave me hugs, tee hee. I think Aaron Jacob might have rolled his eyes at me when I hugged Becca Pechin, but I'd maintain that he'll understand when he's me (which most people are at least once). L'chaim!
I thought about this last night: when was the last time I had an amazing musical experience like I had so often at festivals and concerts at OHS? I think when we played "Overture to Candide" in UVSC band, there were a few times when I got into the music, and probably also with "Moorside Suite." But those can't compare to my senior year, All-State Band, playing Marching Song of Democracy, or to my sophomore year in Symphonic Band playing Introit. Maybe you just have to have a song with colossal endings, dynamically, to remember it as such (as both those songs do). Oh well. I'm going to listen to my All-State CD now.
