It's frrrrrrrreeeeezing in my room. I'm wearing two pairs of socks. I feel like an old woman, which reminds me- the seemingly crazy old guy who lives in my dorm (rent control, couldn't kick 'em out years ago) actually spoke to me this morning. "Boy is it cold!" he announced. "Someone must've turned the heat off."

That's big news to me. I was sure he was entirely out of his mind.

Also, this little bit of history gave me some hope this morning:
CBS News poll from Dec. 17, 2003, polling nationally:

Dean 23%
Clark 10%
Lieberman 10%
Gephardt 6%
Sharpton 5%
Kerry 4%
Edwards 2%
Moseley-Braun 1%

Still, my knee-jerk prediction is that it's a Clinton-Guiliani election. And that I flee the country.

I've decided there are no consolations of philosophy. When I feel so completely disillusioned with the historical plain method and the necessity of rigid designators, I open up my contemporary lit anthology and read a poem. David Hume got drunk and played backgammon. Sometimes I do that too, minus the backgammon.
