So for those of you that I haven't talked to, THIS is what happened to my apartment complex on Christmas:
It's pretty bad. Luckily, those buildings in the background that look fine, one of those is my building. My apartment is totally fine. It's really weird how tornados work. A couple of buildings were completely destroyed and some of the ones right next to them are perfectly fine.
I can't even tell you how lucky I feel that number 1, I wasn't in my apartment when it happened and that number 2, my apartment and everything in it is still in tact. At most, I was inconvenienced for the last couple of days because they wouldn't let us in until they were sure it was safe. It was frustrating not knowing if everything was okay and trying to get information out of people who seemed to know nothing about what was going on. It was a crazy couple of days. But there was nothing like the feeling of walking into my apartment this evening and seeing that it was all okay. I feel really bad for the people that were affected though, and that maybe they didn't have family and friends around that they could stay with.
Even if I had lost everything in my apartment, it's really comforting to know that I have so many people that care about me. I really appreciate everyone that called to check on me and offered their help. Of course, my whole family was there when I found out and there were at least three of them on the phone at the same time with different people trying to find out information when we weren't sure what was going on at first. And Joe's family tried to get as close as they could and find out what they could too, and then he and his family let me stay with them for the last couple of days.
I'm just really grateful. For everything.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. I actually had a really great Christmas. Pictures of regular present opening type things probably to come
