They taught me how to make a website yesterday, on the classified network. I'm not sure why they felt I needed to know that, but it was pretty fun.
Went to the laundromat Sunday morning, and it was just like being at home: a bunch of Hispanic families and TVs blaring in Spanish. I find that TV is much easier to ignore when it's in another language.
Shipping my car on March 8, so I gotta get everything out of it. It is common knowledge that anything left in a car that's being shipped overseas somehow walks away. I hope they don't take the spare tire...
My beloved insurance company (USAA) will extend coverage to both my car and my stuff for about the same premium as I was paying here. USAA seriously rocks my world.
Got my diplomatic passport last week. It's got a chip in it as part of a pilot program for reading passports. The cover is quite thick, and black, and there are about 3 times as many pages as a regular passport. It even says "Diplomatic Passport" on the cover. I am so cool.
Going to Chicago for Grandpa Staedke's memorial service in a few weeks. My family has asked me to get them some trinkets with the State seal on it; I must remember to go shopping. I also need to shop for clothes in Chicago. It seems that I'm still not on top of the dress code thang. I've got professional figured out: suits. It's figuring out what's one step below suits and appropriate for the embassy that's giving me trouble. My classmates have suggested twinsets or tailored blouses. Marshall Field's, here I come! (Wait, they're not Macy's yet, are they?!?)
