Theory was interesting. Newman compared a pivot chord modulation to a pupa, a chrysalis, and a butterfly. Quite entertaining.
Physical chem was even more interesting. Feig had a powerpoint of all the different majors of people enrolled in the class and had people raise their hands as he called out their major. A bunch of chem, biochem, physiology, etc, and then, at the bottom, "Music Education." Lo and behold, it was just little old me raising my hand. Everyone looked at me like I'm crazy, which I probably am. Oh well. John Edwards is in there, so it will be interesting.
Band. Had band. Wasn't expecting to have band. Wanted to eat lunch then. But it's Madden for the fall, so that should be good. Although Madden and Sedatole gave a really depressing speech about us being the second band and Madden being the second director and Broadnax being the third, etc. Way to start off the year (that was sarcasm).
Percussion was quick and painless. We were there maybe ten minutes and he let us go. Then again, we've gotta buy a lot of expensive stuff. Ick.
Conducting was interesting. Broadnax is doing the first semester, and Madden will do the second. I might do an honors project in there. We'll see.
After conducting, Ashley, Amy, and I went to Marshall Music and got our sticks. Woo!
Lauron and I made dinner in Williams and then went to her room to be band dorks and listen to good music when a mentor knocked and said that there was free ice cream from the Dairy Store in the lounge, so we got Anna and got some ice cream. Yum.
Oh, and I met the guy across from my room, and he's not Mike Rosen like everyone thought. He's cool though. He should be a good neighbor.
I want to hear how everyone else's first day of classes went! All in all, mine wasn't bad.
