I've had a long weekend. Starting at 8:30AM saturday, raging waters, a graduation party, Upper Room, and then back to the house the grad party was at for an after-Upper Room hangout session/partaaay until 2AM. The party was niz-ice. That's my new favorite white girl trying to be ghetto terminology. We talked, laughed, ate (dang that potato salad was good), danced (ohhhh yes), John challenged me to a breakdancing dual--to which I got up in his face and worked the intimidation factor--you could see it in his eyes, he was intimidated by me in my skirt. I told him he better watch out...I'll be practicing...next time I'm in jeans..its ON. Ya know, its too bad I can't breakdance...but shoooot, I'll pull out some oldskool roger rabbit and running man skills--he'll never know what hit him when I bring my secret weapon, yes..... the sprinkler. It shall be glorious.
We ended out the evening with a little SNL. Anthony and John came outside when us girls were leaving and Anthony wanted to pray for us. I'm so not used to being in prayer so much, and its seriously a challenge and a blessing to be around people like him, and for me to keep God in my head more often and really think about stopping the seconds every now and then to check in with Him. That Anthony..dang...he's so filled with the spirit and I just admire that so much.
After Saturday's events, I got a very nice little sleep-in today until noon-thirty. I moved soooo slow this afternoon. Its a good thing I didn't have any plans until 6:30PM--a birthday party at the beach. (have I mentioned I love the beach?--cuz I do--TGFC--thank god for califor-ni-a). Our group was wittled down to me, katy, laura, aimee, carlos, tony, alysa, and anthony that were to be joining those other friends of Hillary's already at the bonfire. It was a fun night...but how can you not have fun around insanely fantastic people, eating hotdogs and s'mores, freezing at the beach? The guys had fun playing keep-away with the football. That Laura did get the ball though--the scrappy one she is--that ended the game apparently--at least for a little while. At around 10PM we headed back into salinas and watched American History X at Carlos' house until kate and I had to head home at midnight. Man, there's a lot of cussing in that movie...but I'm sad I had to leave before edward norton's character made a turnaround. Oh well...we're gonna get filled in on it, sans the f word, thank goodness. I had anthony next to me though feeding my mind with Godly thoughts though throughout all the crappy stuff in the movie. Seriously--what do we feed our minds that hinders our spiritual growth on a daily basis? I'd say its something to think about.
I am in love with weekends like this. I know I've said it before, but I am sooo in love with these people--goodness gracious, how have I survived without them?? Its insane I tell you. I've had my camera handy this weekend, so I'll try to get pics developed soon.
I start work tomorrow--please pray...I need some positivity.
