Many people come cruising through our lives without a care in the world about their impact. We pass people on the street and in subways and stores that we never speak to but we observe their encounters with others or we admire or become disgusted with their being all together. In some way or another we are effected without them knowing in the slightest. I can think back across my childhood and remember seeing a face or people or the way certain strangers interacted and I made mental notes of how fascinating they were or how I admired their appearance and wish to be like them. Or, sometimes, how their behavior was absurd and how I wished to never, ever, make a fool of myself like that in my lifetime. Little to nothing is said and these strangers make in impact that forever changes our lives in tiny ways.
What is to say of those who stay? The ones who we allow to invade our minds, pick apart our souls and stay? Sometimes only for brief periods of time. Others we are fooled to believe will be there for the long run and then the large river of life parts, you go your separate ways and all you can do is look back at what once was and wonder, what if?
And then...then there are those who carve there names in our hearts. They share some of our sweetest moments and create some of the largest holes and scars we have ever endured. Often times these certain someones come in because we've asked them to and some we never saw coming. None the less they come, they teach and they leave. Even the ones who seemingly are around for a lifetime can't make the promise of whose lifetime they are promising. One day either you or they will leave first leaving the other with the greatest wound that no one ever should have to, but everyone who remains living will in fact endure. Love is quite possibly the one, single greatest wonder of the world that everyone strives to figure out but instead just jumps on and enjoys the ride. Leaving the rest of us in the world to still wonder.
