Think Outside the Box
Before moving into the dorms my freshman year, I was really apprehensive about having a roommate. In such close quarters, especially for an obsessive-compulsive like me, living with someone in a dorm can easily become a torture one might find in the seventh ring of hell. This is the exact reason I've required my own apartment every year while in college. Flatmates are easier than roommates, because I can lock my door and so can they. Sometimes I don't even see the people I live with for an entire week, and that, to me, is glorious.

I plan one day to live alone. But, I may have a cat. That is all the companionship I need.

I'll still lock my bedroom door though.

Gah! My cat, who recently jumped out of the second story living room window, used to jump (noticing a trend?) up and try to twist the door knob to open the door. I figure if he would have stuck around another couple of weeks, he would have gotten the hang of it. Poor little guy.

I think they do. He didn't die on impact, but I'm sure the highway in the front yard and Kool-Aid stained kids in the Hoovervilles across the way were both recipes for disaster.
