It's an essay column in Newsweek printed in every issue. Sometimes the essays are funny, sometimes they're quite serious--they're essentially a place to showcase "humanity," and I think this would fit there quite well. That way the whole world will know the literary powerhouse that is punkdhiver.

I just read one, but they seem like they have to have a point...

... and, naturally, my writing doesn't, really. Would it still work?

Believe me. Your story has as much of a point as one of David Sedaris' essays would, and far more of a point than some old lady rambling about squirrels eating out of her birdfeeders does.
