I'm sitting in the back room at the video store, I'm on break. Hi there, by the way. I just polished off two bagels (out of the 1 1/2 dozen I pulled out of a dumpster on the way home from work the other night. Marble and cinnamon raisin. Delicious.) for dinner and I'm going to go watch a documentary with Other Dave after work. Starting tomorrow I drop back to 4 shifts a week and then in a couple weeks I'm down to 3. My aim is to slowly phase myself out of the schedule as I grow more comfortable and competent at living without money. My ride to work this morning was splendid, I made it over here 5 minutes faster than usual, and that was an exciting feeling, must mean my legs are gettin' stronger. They certainly feel as if they are. My ride this morning did prompt the question:
-Why is it that when I'm riding in my highest gear, and I'm actually working a little bit, putting a little bit of strain on the bike, the chain goes "SNAP!" and it sort of skips for a sec. the pedals lose all resistance and than it goes back to normal. Some times it does this quite a bit, some times not at all. I'm hesitant to believe that it's simply normal for that to happen when I'm pushing the bike to it's limits, because if Bicycles had feelings, I'm pretty sure my bike would be in a lot of pain every time this happens.
For those of you who were wondering, 'Punk De Velo' is (as far as I know) French for 'Bike Punk'. If I am wrong, I would prefer that you didn't tell me, because than I would feel stupid about having that as my journal name. Thank you for your cooperation.
Alright, this entry is real long and boring, so I'll end it now. I'm wondering if I should impart a tidbit of my knowledge of bicycle repair in each post... any thoughts on that?
Stay ultra-spiffy,
~Dave
