Day 1 punkcichlid February 20 2005, 09:41:45 UTC
Day 1: 12/18

Got to comic-con. met up with jesse. bought some 50% off graphic novels, some preachers, hellboy and sin city stuff. score! comissioned manong ernie chan to draw me a picture of conan! talked to adam hughes, but missed the commish cut. talked about future batman products, bought a sketch book and a print. score again! due to work duties I had to watch a laser for 3 hours so no one would mess with it. read comics the whole time, afterwards, we walked around and I began my hunt for Iron Man #55. (First app. of Thanos). After almost an hour of hunting I found one at VF condition selling for $75. I tried to offer at 60 and we settled on $65. Score again! This one is a lot better condition than my "reading" copy. Bought some bootleg DVD's - Contract of Evil, Necronomicron, Decline of Western Civilization and SW Holiday Special (Finally after so many years I get to watch this crappy special.) Jesse scored on a Descendents concert DVD. pretty rare I think, but a must have for any Descendents fan... Afterwards, we celebrated lent with our tuna sandwiches!

BONUS !!!! Jesse found out that Ian Mckaye was playing in the city and spur of the moment we went. Tried to get tickets for a 7:00 show, but it was sold out. Luckily there was a 11:00 show so we decided to stay. we stood in the rain for a while... we missed out on 2.5 opportunities to get tickets for the 7:00 show... by then we knew we were destined to watch the 10:00 show. We saw Miya from Asian Man Records show up and we figured that Mr. Mike Park would be there as well because Ian McKaye is God to him. We killed some time and by the time they let us in, we were known to the bouncers as the first guys in line all night who waited patiently to watch punk rock god ian mkaye. we were tired. it was raining. it was late and i was feeling crappy. but why did we endure all this pain and suffering??? to see ian mckaye... if you don't know, run a google search. the set started and it was two piece... like the white stripes... but they were awesome. there was the one protest song about the police and it really rocked... they played about 14 songs, and it was a historic event because: 1) its the first time they played a 2 show night 2) it was the latest they ever played 3) it's fuckin ian mkaye and the evans. 4) Jesse and I were in the VERY front. an excellent view, I can tell you, I was in awe... after the set, i shook his hand and i thought, i am "blessed" to have witnessed this performance tonight. thanks jesse for the spur of the moment historic event. this night i learned the purpose of protest... and now I know why Mike Park admires him so much... good people...

too tired to describe day 2... coming soon. stay tuned.
