dear old world (PART 2): ocean

it leads to here
suppose i keep this cup with me
in it ocean air i can feel
even if i never decide to ease the lid
every time it greets the twinkle
atop the climax of every wave
sounds the birth of unfolding dialogue
new lifelines blessed in every smile
these highs, upon each rise and fall, and, rise
suppose i keep you close by
opaque, sealed, protected
from penetrating eyes
away from transparent minds
plotting corrupt, weathered seasons
suppose this time is forever
when this forever is a concept
limited to the idea
of a pure and perfect soul
i will believe you are
even though i have never
set foot on ocean's ground
never seen its darkness or its light
never have met its past
i won't know where to unearth age-old rocks
without a doubt, i will fail
to locate treasures of your heart
i'll keep my eyes closed, underwater
they're blind when open anyway
all i can is place my faith in you
