GRRRRRARRGGGGHHHH!
Ahem... Rehearsal was annoying. Because our orchestra is kinda bigish, I am situated so I am more a part of the percussion section, rather than part of the second violins. The timpani (more on him in a second) is directly behind me, and the bass drum is mere centimeters to my right. Half way through the rehearsal I couldn't hear out of my right ear, with the left one quickly losing steam, plus a big pounding headache.
The timpani player is one of these people who talks for the sake of talking, and tries to be funny, but just comes off as weird. Apparently just before rehearsal starts and at break equals 'All wind and brass players, play as obnoxiously loud as you can', so the timpani player is smacking against the timpani for the sake of smacking, the trumpets and tubas were having contest to see who could give me a migraine fastest, and the piccolo was playing tones close to the range that only dogs could hear, by the time break was over I was ready to beat all of them with a flute made of fire to put an end to it.
Maybe I was just especially irritable tonight.
Quote du Jour: 'Throw the bow, I was told to say that, I don't know what it means, but throw it.'
