I ran out of time last week and I apologize for it again. I know how badly you wait for me to write to you, nobody in particular.
So what have I been up to? I got me a haircut for the first time in almost six months, that's what. It really is quite a hilarious story. You see, not only was I shown on their computer the last time I was there (Along with the hairstyle I asked for, "Textured Surfer," for the record, I have never said the word textured or surfer in the same sentence in my life...I don't know) but the day after getting my haircut I recieve a mailer from them. It was a half-off coupon that said BECAUSE WE MISS YOU on it. I wasn't even mad that they sent me one of these things and it got here the day after my haircut, either. I just laughed my pretty little ass off. And yes, I'm pretty now. Just ask my textured surfer hair.
I don't even know what that means.
In other swank news I bought myself the new Cafe Tacvba album. And holy shit. You guys know I'm a big fan and that no matter what I'm gonna say it was bad-ass, but this goes beyond even that. This is a beautiful, beautiful album. From good ol' Cafe Tacvba weird-blasting to incredibly deep, beautiful songs. So much in fact that Vámonos actually made me cry a little. It's so sweet and childlike, it makes me think of a little boy drawing spaceships and bugs and flowers and stuff. Awesome.
Their first single Volver a Comenzar is also ¡DE POCA MADRE, GUEY! (That means I approve) and there really isn't a bad song in the bunch, though admittedly I'm not a huge fan of the final track, but then again I usually never listen to those. I'm not sure why.
On the 20th my brother and I went to Uptown Whittier with Uncle Martin and his kids to this incredibly awesome Dia de los Muertos festival. There was so much awesome Deathswag I thought I was going to punch a hole in my skull 'cause I was frickin' broke. Never again! Next year I'm bringing all kinds of coin for MuertoMerch!
Shoutout to Iván! Yo! I saw the Nip/Tuck premiere last night and was horribly, horribly fucking amused at the fact that they played Lean like a Cholo. Really, I didn't see that coming, but it was bad-ass. Clearly, we have reached the zenith of civilization. The end times are here because we can go no further.
Really, though, that was fucking hilarious.
I thought it was okay, and those Hearts and Scalpels scenes were pretty good too. Don't even get me started on the Lady Cha-Cha stuff, 'cause that was gold. Oliver Platt as the flamboyant director? Also awesome. If the rest of the season can keep up with the momentum of the premiere's crazier moments then the season will probably be pretty good. But maybe I'll get bored of it like I did last season.
Uhhh, is that it? Yes it is... except for this:
ATTENTION, ACADEMIA FANS!
There's this new show Sunday nights on TV Azteca called, um, Quien Tiene Estrella or something? I forget. The show is really nothing more than Star Search (The way La Academia is really nothing more than Mexican Idol) except while watching a promo for it on TV I clearly saw, right under the title "LA NUEVA ACADEMIA"
Do they mean what I think they mean? Is this show the reason there is no Academia this year? Does this mean there will be no more subsequent Academias? IS THIS THE END OF THE WORLD? It totally is, isn't it?
If that's the case I will be one sad, Academia-lovin' motherfucker. If anyone knows what the deal is, please let me know.
¡Pásatelas super duuuper!
I'm gonna get me one of them three hundred dollar haircuts. This one's lost its pizazz.
