Seditionaries Sid-vicious style sweater

Hi to all the punk smockers and threadbangers here,

As a first attempt at knitting thought I'd try to make one of those viv westwood seditionaries style jumpers - the ones made out of mohair with big holes that look like they've been knitted on broomhandles?
I figure that given the size of the needles, it might be a relatively quick project, and any ( Read more... )

Is that a sweater or a poncho-thing? Because if it's a sweater, I WANT.

The stitch is super simple, from what I can see, so that's good. Just a garter stitch for the entire thing. I don't know a damned thing about sweater construction, though, so you'll have to wait for more knowledgeable people to show up. :x

I just got "Pretty in Punk" for christmas, and it's surprising not as cheesey as it sounds/looks. There's a pretty cool pattern in there for what you're looking for. If you don't want to buy it, you could probably just go to Barnes and Noble and flip through it to get the general idea.

Cheers!

There's the Bam 13 sweater. It's kind of a similar idea but that one is made out of chunky yarn and ribbons or rags or something. But that is also knit on really big needles and kind of grungey.

There is, and I would think that it could easily be modified to look like that.

Sid Vicious though...just pleh. (Not talking about the sweater. Just the person.)

yeah Bam 13 is a very easy knit.
I knitted it for my friend's boyfriend when they were together. She now owns the sweater.

i dont know how confident you are in your knitting. If you are slightly confident i would recommend reading a few sweater patterns and getting the general idea of how one work. do a gauge swatch. then, just sort of freehand it, i mean i dont think you would need a hardcore serious pattern for this sweater.

I would start with more stitches and smaller needles for the bottom of the bits, go up needles and decrease.
