Oh look here, I bought another ghetto blaster because I don't already have enough radios.
I bought it for three reasons. Firstly, it's got that great 80's
look to it with all those silver switches and the round speakers.
Secondly, the cassette player works fine, the aerial is not broken, and
the tuner really pulled in a lot of stations which I find hard to get
on other radios. Most of these things are nearly destroyed by
now. Third reason was that I haven't seen the name 'Candle' on
anything this recent- the name was somewhat popular for Japanese
shirt-pocket transistor radios in the 60's- but I've never seen it on
anything else.
So I did some research on the company and found out that the company
that owns the rights to the name in Canada is Jutan International
(which would explain the JIL logo before the word 'Candle')... who also
owns the rights to the Citizen name. Now, if you're familiar with
watches, you'll know that a company called Citizen makes a range of
watches; however that is a different company altogether.
Here's the best part:
So, which logo is for which, completely unrelated company? The
one on the left is the electronics manufacturer... and the one on the
right is the watch company! It appears that Jutan Int'l almost
completely ripped off the Citizen logo, with one minor difference in
that the 'C' is a bit higher up in theirs. I love how companies
can get away with this stuff.
