First one I've heard since they split with Steven Page and... I don't think I like it. Neither does my mom. Everyone else (by everyone I really just mean Facebook comments and twitter posts) seems to like it. I think they're kissing ass, but what do I know.
I just... hitting 'play', I expected to at least sort of like it. I realized it would be different. But I wasn't expecting to actively dislike it. The lyrics... suck, to me. Maybe they speak to all these other people who reportedly like the song, but I'm not feeling it at all, and Ed's voice isn't fantastic enough to make up for blasé lyrics in slow song.
Again; just my opinion. But atlhough I am not a critic, I listen to a lot of music, and I think I'm entitled to have one. D:
I loved these guys, they're my most played artist on iTunes. I was hoping both BNL and Steve Page would somehow, someway, come out on top of this. I had hoped, so It hurts me deeply to say this. I'll still give the new album a chance, who knows; maybe this song is the only one on it I wont like. But based on Run Away, I think Great Big Sea just lost its competition for first place on my mental list o' band favourites.
In other news, I hear Massive Attack will have a new album out this year. :D
