True love surrounds us for the rest of our lives.
We are out at my in-laws house, my mother-in-law (whom we adore, btw) was outside and I was online reading the newspaper from back home.
"Mommy, where's Grum?"
I pause, swallow and look over my shoulder at him.
"Mommy, where's Grum?"
I set down my laptop and simultaneously smile & tear up.
"Come give me a hug sweetheart and think about your words."
"Okay" He comes in front of me "Mommy, where's Grum?" He finally hears what he actually said instead of what he meant and grins big & laughs "I mean where's Grandma Noonie! Silly me."
"I know." I scoop him up and we hug.
"I wish Grum were back alive and here to play too. Sorry Mommy."
"It's okay sweetheart. You make me happy and sad when you accidentally say Grum, and that's okay. It's okay for me to miss her and it's okay to be silly. When someone says her name by accident I like to think it means wherever she is she's thinking of us."
"Oh, that's nice Mommy. I like that."
*Deep breath. Wink. Move on.*
grum,
memories,
