Preface: Kevin, I'm going to talk about about Apple, so if you're going to be a dick, move on.
So, I want a new Mac. I am completely sick of the extremely loud noise my iMac makes. For as much as I use it, I think it's time. The new iMacs are quiet, much slimmer, and have more features obviously. Now I know I won't even be able to get a grand out of my used iMac, but I did find one on eBay that ended last night with my exact same specs that sold for $810. So if I bank on getting around $800 for it, it will be much easier for me to get the second lowest new iMac, which, with the education discount, is $1,518 (w/ Apple Care). So $818 is needed.
Problems: 1) Mine has Tiger, obviously, and mostly everyone wants Leopard now. 2ish) I am broke and this wouldn't happen until a couple months from now probably. 3) I haven't been a fan of the glossy screens simply because of the glare, and there is no alternate option. 4) I am in credit card debt almost three grand and I should work on paying that off first. 5) I am pretty materialistic and have trouble with arranging priorities.
I was considering an MBP but I honestly won't be moving it very much so the portability convenience is not worth the extra cost. But I've regretted not getting a laptop ever since I got my iMac.
Overall, the new iMacs, though I'm not so sure about the glossy screen, fits me the best.
