The long over due, post Birthday post...

My sporadic abstinence, as the word suggests is usually a deliberate attempt to secede from the virtual world. This is certainly one of my most prominent personality traits, both the self denial and disaffiliation from anything that might become a habit, a can’t-do-without. There’s no particular reason but simply an intrinsic need to throw a ( Read more... )

So I assume you abstain from food every few days, coz its a very habit forming thing. :-P and a definite can't do without. :-D

>>>>I am also extremely judgemental of people who let themselves ‘over’ indulge, the slaves of habits really.
Well sometimes being slaves to habits is a very satisfying experience. :-D

>>>>For now I will share some memories from my favourite days on earth. I have a predilection for celebrating birthdays in grand and lavish fashion.
Well I have not been invited to any of them. :-( When am I getting invitation for THE days????

>>>>I remember making paper boats with my kid sister. My parents allowed us to set off the boats despite the rain.
Aah!!!! Those were the days. We use to relish rains so much. First rain use to bring that awesome smell of the moist soil. and best of all school se chhutti. :-D

>>>>One birthday, I embarrassed my then best friend, out of affable intentions though.
Well thats the disadvantage of jumping the gun and shooting yourself. :-D

>>>>(yes, my birthdays are fun)
Apne muh miya mitthu banane ki behtreen misaal pesh ki hai aapne. :-P

>>>> When I thought I had waited enough and he had gotten really friendly by then, so I casually asked when I would get my present.
Well the affect of your greed must hav been that your dad have to give loads of gift for your Boss after that.

>>>> Disappointed, I dramatically abandoned him.
Well well well!!!! this world is a very materialistic place. especially the people living on it.

>>>> FYI, I never took down any notes on my birthdays. My friends wrote for me in my copies (and also in their’s if they could manage both).
Hmmmmmm. So you don't want to be a slave of your habits, but making slaves out of small kids is not an issue. Poor things, you should be charged under child labour. :-P

>>>> Also, I never took the ‘Happy Birthday to you’ attention too well.
I totally agree. Seriously, it was the most embarrassing moment. In our school B'Day children were called on the stage during assembly time while conductors sang 'Happy Birthday' song. It felt like you have done something wrong are being called on stage to be punished. Only once I went on stage on my B'day after that I mysteriously started having stomach aches on my B'day mornings. They use to mysteriously disappear assembly prayer. :-D

>>>> PS: A nagging thought doesn't seem to leave, I feel I might have used certain phrases not completely original. Please do let me know if you feel the same/figure em out. It's really uneasy, this feeling for a so-called writer! :(
Hehehehe. Its ok to be inspired from other great writers. :-P

1) Habit is diff from need na? I do abstain from food too, bhookh hartal when I am mad at people. :P And, I really let go of drinks or food items I feel I might be getting addicted to. Example - coffee, lays (american flavour) etc! :)

2) That is precisely what I rediscover everytime when I have the food that I abstained from, after a break.

3)Aapka number bhi aayega. :P

4)Rainy Day holidays were my fav too. :D

5) I tend to do that a lot.

6) I tend to do that a lot too. ;)

7) Quite possible. Also, my folks grounded me after that incident. :(

9) They did it willingly , ok? They knew I hated taking down notes. :P

10) Now we are on the same page.

11) Not necessarily great writer, dats part of the problem. Could very well be like a bad song stuck in your head na...!

Maine kahin to suna hai ki "Aadte agar badli naa jaayein to zarooratein bann jaate hai!" :-D And I never abstain from food, I just abstain from abstaining from food. Another trait of a punjabi. :-D

Kab aayega????

>>>> 4)Rainy Day holidays were my fav too. :D
same pinch. :-P

>>>> 7) Quite possible. Also, my folks grounded me after that incident. :(
ohh! Poor thing. :-( and only thing you did was just your dad's boss for a gift and that too on your B'Day and after he have done enough to enjoy! I will never forget to bring a gift for you on your B'day, lest I may as well be abandoned as heartlessly as that poor boss of your dad.

>>>> 9) They did it willingly , ok? They knew I hated taking down notes. :P
Yeah. They knew you "Hated" it and they did it due to fear of you.

>>>> 10) Now we are on the same page.

If you know me even one bit, you'd know it will have to be Larry Page. :)

Bang on about the bad songs. I should write a blog about this sometime. :D
