Ep. 70: Matsuo Kiyoshi as radio guest

note: Matsuo "KC" Kiyoshi-san was in the studio, and he's such a nice, funny gentleman. (Actually I found his parts a little difficult to translate since he loves to use metaphoric phrases.. so I do apologize if there's any mistakes.) But I love to hear his thoughts about Tegomass and the way he accidentally bumped into Massu in a concert and praise his body x) This is one of my fave episodes. Enjoy!
Opening
The boys are happy receiving many fanmails about NEWS Utsukoi DVD.
Massu: We have about two hundred million mails!
Tegoshi: No it was three hundred million mails!
Massu: Yes, we've received a lot! (lol)
Tegoshi: (asking Aracchi) How was the DVD? Which part do you like?
Aracchi: Ufufufu..
Tegoshi: Eh?
Aracchi: All of them.
Tegoshi: Oi oi oi! You haven't watched it, right?!
Massu: Hahahaha..
Aracchi said she realized one thing after watching the documentary part: Kei-chan loves to show his body. Tegoshi then explained that Kei-chan muscles are red muscles* and he often takes off his clothes to show them off. Massu then added that Shige lately also loves to show off his body.

Tegoshi and Massu claimed that they didn't reveal their body much at the concert.
Aracchi: Eh, but in Bambina, you wore those revealing costumes..
Massu: Those are..right? Great, wasn't it? That was happened because someone's idea.. That was ME.
Tegoshi & Aracchi: (laughs)
Massu said he's the one who wore the most modest costume, which only reveals his arms and neck. While Tegoshi said he wanted to show off his thigh muscles.
Tegoshi: My friend who come to the concert told me, "It looks like TM' Revolution's Nishikawa-san's costume!" And unexpectedly, we just had an opportunity to sing with TM Revolution on Music Fair! (laughs)
The boys said they'll sing a song called "Thunderbird". They chose to sing it, since it's a popular song when they were teenager.
Tegomass then promoted their upcoming single, Sayonara ni Sayonara, and teased the listeners that there will be a guest that day in the studio.
Massu: Finally we have another guest other than Aracchi!
Aracchi: Wait a minute, so I'm your guest? For all of this time?!
Massu: (laughs)
Tegoshi: Eh? But we once had Yoshida-san here right?
Massu: Aaaah, that's true. That was a surprise (guest). (laughs)
And Tegomass kept teasing Aracchi, saying she's a guest for more than one year lol. Aracchi said she'll change his profile into: 'guest of Tegomass no Radio" from now on.
They moved on to the request mail, it's from Kabo-chan in Osaka (Massu reacted: "Kaba-chan!"* lol and Aracchi had to remind him: "It's Kabo-chan!"). She congratulated Tegomass for their new single and thanked them for always making their fans happy.

Apparently, this is Tegoshi's first time meeting Matsuo-san. He explained that he knows about Matsuo-san since his teenagers days, because he watched the Asayan show*. Massu also said that he loves Chemistry's vocal harmonization (hamori)
Tegoshi: I watched it every week!
Matsuo-san: Ah really? When did you first interested in 'hamori'? How old were you?
Tegoshi: I was in the third grade of junior school. And when I first watched Chemistry, I was like, 'what's this mahou (magic)?"
Matsuo-san: But now it's Tegomass no Mahou (the magic of Tegomass) right?
Tegoshi: (laughs) Well, it is..

He also emphasized that he won't be satisfied if his songs are sung by people who are not competent at singing. He's excited to write the songs for Tegomass, and he even said that he'll fix the songs if they have any problem singing it.
Matsuo-san: I feel like Tegomass are the chosen singers.
Massu: We're happy to hear that.
Tegomass seemed to be very happy being praised x) Tegoshi then said that he loves Matsuo-san's songs, especially songs with 'high hurdles' like Sayonara ni Sayonara and Komorebi Memories. Apparently, Komorebi Memories is a popular track among the (recording) staffs, and Massu said he loves that song the most.
Massu then shared his unique first meeting with Matsuo-san.
Massu: The other day, I went to Bruno Mars's concert. It was a standing concert, and suddenly a handsome oniisan patted my shoulder.
Matsuo-san: It was nanpa, nanpa..*

Massu: It was in the middle of concert, so I thought he was a concert staff.. But then he said. "I'm the producer, Matsuo." I was like, "EEEH?? MATSUO-SAAAAN?"

Matsuo-san: I've noticed him from behind, "Eh? Isn't that Masuda-kun?" I came there with Kawaguchi Daisuke (co-writer for Komorebi Memories), and I told him, "I was just listening to Tegomass's songs on my car, and then I met Masuda-kun in the concert, can you believe that?!'
Tegoshi: That's so funny!
Matsuo-san: And after the concert, among many people, we accidentally met again in the entrance door, and talked again. It was a good meeting.
Massu: Yes. I was so happy. I think it was a destined meeting.
Tegoshi: That's really rare!
Matsuo-san: And after that I thought: where would I meet Tegoshi-kun? But then I meet you here normally at the studio.

Matsuo-san: You have many charming songs, so that's why I wanted to create music and song which never been sung before by Tegomass. And this time, I wrote 3 songs, and I can say that I'm super satisfied.
Massu: I'm happy to hear that!
And he keep praising the boys.
Matsuo-san: I'm sure your fans are waiting for Tegomass. The pure image, the singing ability..when they listen to your singing, it feels like you take them to a different world. Well, now you maybe hesitate to say 'yes it's like that', but that's the truth.
Massu: Let's try to say it. 'Yes it's like that'.

Tegoshi revealed that "Hitori Ja Nai' is his favorite track.
Tegoshi: I feel numb singing that song!
According to Tegoshi, the gap between the melody line and chorus of that song is really cool, and Matsuo-san replied: "It's like being killed by a song, huh? (laughs)"

Matsuo-san also hinted about the collaboration possibility for their next album
Matsuo-san: If there's another chance to collaborate again in the future, I'm sure together we can "draw a wider scenery" (in term of music)*.
Tegoshi: Yes, we'd love to! We want to do a lot of things this year as Tegomass.
Matsuo-san: Let's make an album then!
Tegoshi: Let's do it!
Matsuo-san: Everyone wants to listen to your 3rd album.
Massu: Really? Ureshii!**
Tegoshi: We will work hard for the 3rd album, please treat us well!

When Matsuo-san asked Tegomass about what kind of songs they want to sing next time, Tegoshi answered that he wanted to sing songs with 'high hurdles' as he previously said.
Matsuo-san: You're just like an athlete, huh?
Tegoshi: Ah really? But yes, I love to push myself to the limit, to the most impossible place and try my best there.
Matsuo-san: Masuda-kun?
Massu: Just modest songs will be enough...

Massu: If Matsuo-san write us a difficult song, I'm afraid it will be Tegoshi's only..
Tegoshi: But we'll sing together, right!

Massu: I really thought that we have appeared together on a show..

They then talked about Tegomass being a part of Johnny's and Association. Matsuo-san said, they have many advantages being a part of J&A, as they will always have a place like 'home', but they can also being an adventurer outside J&A. He also said that Tegomass is just like a paint brush, they have to "draw more picture on their canvas" and he'd be very happy to be able to help them. Tegomass said they always want to focus on music and vocal since their first debut, and they once being scolded for turning down some advises to dance in their song. For their first single, they were involved to pick the songs, and even though there were some cool and dance-able song, they choose to sing Sunadokei. Tegoshi and Massu were very excited explaining the process and Matsuo-san commented: It feels like you're picking a girlfriend!
At last, Matsuo-san said she can feel the excitement of their fangirls for the upcoming album ad told Tegomass that music has its own power to reach other people. But sadly they have to ended the conversation due to the limited time.
Matsuo-san: I'm sorry it became an otonokusai* talk.
Tegoshi: But I love otonakusai talk!
Lastly, they thanked Matsuo-san for coming to the studio and briefly talked about their next plan to have a meal together.
