I won't pretend I'm not spamming your flists tonight. Ahaha.
But, okay. I am musing.
Must Harry/Ginny always be considered vanilla? Why?

Generally speaking, I don't like this 'fandom stereotype' (presuming I have to give it a name). In and around fandom, I get the feeling that because I choose to write H/G, and because it's my OTP, (
I'm not someone to be taken seriously. )
Whenever I say I liked the Epilogue (cause I'm one of those people) other HP fans look at me and say "that's cause you are a H/G shipper, you like that stuff"... and THAT'S NOT TRUE, I like angst and dark fics are my favorites... fics where Ginny's still struggling with her possesion from Voldemort and Harry's there to remind her of all the darkness. I enjoy angst over fluff.
Fluff is like... the chips you eat before dinner, it keeps your mouth moving, but it doesn't take the hunger away. And there are too many fluffy fics in this fandom, which is a cool thing if you want to read something before an appointment, but doesn't work when you're looking for a good fic to spend a night.
Lately I've been enjoying more the AU fics than the ones that follow canon, because it's like everything has been written already. Either they are about to get married and have a shag the day before, or their kids are off to Molly's and they have a shag, or she sneak into Harry's room and they have a shag, or they are having a shag and Ron walks in... or so on, not that I mind all the smutty fluff, but I there's nothing like a good angsty fic, angry!sex or one with adventures and an actual plot.
Harry and Ginny are hot, and that's a fact, but they are not just vanilla, as you said. The reason why I love this kids so much is because of the complexity of their personalities, both of them have been through hell and back, and it's so rich when you can read that in a fic, where you can explore that part of their characters and how that define their relationship
