I'll probably be around LJ a little more now than I have been for the past few weeks, since I got myself suspended from my job at the group home for the next week. I think I got too busy to even update about most of that stuff so for those I don't talk to regularly off of here, about 3 weeks ago I started working at a group home for people with special needs.
Anyway, on to the point. A new girl was hired last week who happened to be black. No biggie, right? Well it was no biggie until she started cracking jokes about white people. Everyone who works at the home except her and me are 100% white(her being Black, me being part Native American). Well, everyone was kind of biting their tongue and letting it go on, because they were afraid of being accused of being racist. I mentioned to the supervisor that this girl had been making racist jokes non-stop and I didn't think it was right. The supervisor told me those kind of jokes weren't meant to be racist and it was just funny. OK, thanks for enlightening me...So of course the next time the girl did it I started making the same kind of cracks about black people. Friday morning I was called into the supervisors office and got suspended until I attend a diversity class in a week.(she got a write-up, big whoop) Sounds fair, right? N FUCKING O! But oh well, I'll be back in a week and the bitch will most likely be gone. After all this crap happened everyone at work started giving her the hardest and nastiest stuff to do(ever changed a colostomy bag anyone?) and she's already talked about quitting.(yippee!)
Before anyone says it - Yes, I know two wrongs don't make a right. I was making a point and there wasn't really any politically correct way to go about it.
