So, thanks to a suggestion from
sylverwind, I'm going to start a production diary for my F3 (currently titled "Glasnost") so that you fine folk at home can play along with the studio audience.
I turned in the final draft of the script this morning. Naturally, I forgot to put a logline on the front, so there goes (at least) 5 points on an assignment worth 40% of my final grade! :D
Better news: Both Kelsey (screenwriting prof.) and Chip (directing prof.) really liked the last draft, so as long as I can keep everything on track, I know my movie will be solid. I'm finally looking forward to festival submissions...but let's not get too far ahead.
I have one actor coming in to audition tomorrow afternoon and another I'm working on getting ahold of.
We got the rest of our crew assignments today (first-years lol) and I realized that I don't know, like, half of them. As in I've never even seen them. That creeps me out a little (now I know how the third-years felt last year). Crew drills will be interesting...
Crew drills (Nov. 9-11) are just that: drills with our crew. You get 100' of film and two hours to shoot a short excerpt of your script. The idea is to give the first-years (lol) a chance to fuck up, gratis, before they get to set and we kill them for it. It bites, because you work for 14 hours a day, going through 10 or so different positions. And we've never worked with these people before. I know I was a lowly first-year (lol) not so long ago, but these guys better stay on their toes.
I am not looking forward to gaffing (light guy) because I still don't "get" lights. God, I wish I could DP twice and not gaff.
Back to my movie:
So, for the few people who read my LJ and are in the film school (and, mostly, for my benefit), here's my awesome crew:
Director: Me
Producer: Nick Correnti
1st Assistant Director: Shane Houghton
2nd Assistant Director: Christa Markley
Script Supervisor: Aaron Moorhead
Production Designer: Larry Marsee
Director of Photography: Matt Hartwell
1st Assistant Camera: Zana Bochar
2nd Assistant Camera: Gina Papabeis
Gaffer: Brent Pritchett
Best Boy Electric: Shea Windley
Key Grip: James Sorbel
Best Boy Grip: Andrew Adams
Sound Mixer: Ben Carland
Boom Operator: Evan Brand
There's not really much else to say. Things right now are pretty much taken care of. Once the shoot (Dec. 8-9th) gets closer, I will have more to talk about.
Probably mainly about how much I'm freaking out.
