Its the first day of school and, as usual, half the classes (actually, ONE or the TWO) I've selected are not going to work. I had planned on enrolling in this Lifestyle Fitness course, which is supposed to let you keep a fitness log without having to attend class. Unfortunately, a post-class conversation with the teacher reveals that class attendance IS going to be required. Add to this the presence of this chick I went to high school with who, for whatever reason, makes me feel uneasy. So like Seinfeld says when a shoelace touches the floor in the mens room, that's the end of that.
When I'm not dealing with school this week, I'll probably spend a lot of time with Ronnie, who's in town for a little more than a week before he flies to California for military training. Seeing him yesterday was surprisingly comfortable. I had lost touch with him the month before he left for boot camp and it has now been five months since I've seen or heard from him. Physically, he hasn't changed much. He was obsessive about his work-out regime before boot camp, so he hasn't gotten much bigger. Behaviorwise, hes pretty different now. Aside from his short temper and his tendancy to say "fuck" in every sentence, he also has this sense of urgency in every activity, no matter how leisure it may be, so hes constantly griping at me if I'm driving only 10 miles over the speed limit rather than 20. However, it was a pretty decent night. We went to Hooters, had a couple of beers and went to Penn Square Mall to visit the 19-year old assistant manager of Brookstone, who I guess has a crush on Ronnie and who claims she can get "any pill" she wants. Just to keep things smooth, I bought him a large bottle of Miller's Hi-Life beer (an inexpensive beer Mr. Cooch introduced me to during one of his visits) so he'd be wait patiently in the car while I visited Christina at the hospital. I picked a good day to come by, as she was in much better spirits and we got to have the visit in her room instead of the lobby.
I have to work at 4 o clock today, so I'm gonna try to sleep for an hour.
