Introduction

One of the first stories I heard when I arrived in Gainesville this past May for a pre-UF-enrolment visit was the story of Phil’s fictional crimes and subsequent non-fictional police harassment. The police had been to Phil’s house the same day I arrived into town and, despite the unusually stressful day, Phil took some time out to meet with me and several other graduate English students and answer any questions I might have about the department, the school, and the town.

When Pulp Decameron returned to cyberspace, I became a regular reader. Now I have the distinct honor and pleasure of contributing a guest decalogue. My stories are vaguely autobiographically inspired and varied in length and genre. Each of the ten stories is in a different genre, in keeping with the Decameron tradition. As you will see, some of these genres are well known in the literary canon, others are more academic than literary, and others still have been completely made up by me.
