NOTES:
“Never Wake Me Up" is the vid I consider my precious baby. This video means the world to me and I really pushed myself for 3-4 months to make this video happen for this years Vividcon. I started formulating this vid idea about 2-3 years ago. I was so excited about it that I would talk about the video idea with my family. I honestly don’t even think that there is a video quite like this one. I couldn’t find any huge multi-kid fantasy movie vids or recall watching any in the past.

I made a list of movies over the years that I thought would fit nicely into this video, but it wasn’t enough!! I was only going by the movies I had seen. So I turned to research and compiled a very large Movies-To-Watch list, which I did. I watched all of them. Most worked, but some I could not see myself using source from. About 50 movies later, I was ready to vid!! I printed out the lyrics sheet and wrote down everything I was thinking of using for each line of lyrics. This was the FiRST video ever that I did this for. I needed to stay as organized as possible because it was a lot of footage to go through and I needed it all to make sense.

I wanted the video to go in a certain order, where the beginning starts with the kids imagining being able to reach the sky/stars and take flight. As the video progresses you will see them climbing up trees and swinging their hands up to reach closer up high, which then leads to actually taking flight. They get to the clouds and then make their way to finally reaching the stars that mesmerizes them.

The Ready Set’s album “The Bad & The Better” gives me life! I love that album so much and some songs on there mean a lot to me, specifically “Castaway” I relate so much to.

“Higher” is such a upbeat, happy song. The lyrics made me think of when you are a kid and you have this really overactive imagination. That was me growing up. I always had a very creative mind, but also very much completely lonely as a kid. I was the odd one that no one wanted to hang out with, so my escape was imagining / creating in my head a “better place”. My stuffed animals and toys were my only friends. What made it worse was my cousin was miss popular and the same age as me. So at school, at a party, the kids would pay attention to only her and I was literally a ghost. Even on my birthdays, she got all the attention. My sister and cousin are best friends and decided I was “uncool” and never let me hang out with them. I think that’s a lot of the reason why I turn to my creative outlets. It’s like my therapy. It’s what has gotten me through a lot of hard times. That’s part of the reason why I am so passionate about this video and why I needed to make it. It reminds me of the little things that did make me happy. Like the glow in the dark stars in my bedroom as a kid; bike riding outside listening to my tape player and just admiring the sky; my fairy winkles lmao - which i actually believed came to life when I wasn’t looking.

I’m so proud of this video and there isn’t anything about it I don’t love.
