Notes:

I wanted to make a longer and more thought out video for this movie, but I had no time to wrap it up while I still was fresh from the movie, and I lost the focus later. So, instead of being a general overview, this video ended up focusing on Wikus, the leading character, and the awakening that followed his contamination.

Now, I could talk for days about this movie...I think the direction was abysmal in so many ways, and the soundtrack irritating, there are many flaws I could point out regarding the choices that were made to tell the story, but IMO the qualities of this movie override the flaws by a long shot.
First of all I'm still left with the doubt about what lesson the director wanted to impart. It is an original handling of racial issues, about that we all agree, but what prompted the leading character, an antihero, to fight along the alien?
I was left with the idea that the real lesson behind this movie was that we only put our ass on the line when we have a personal interest, which is a bit nihilistic of me, but I couldn't really get over the fact that Wikus accepts to help Christopher only because he's starting to become an alien himself. So, in short,  no one of the humans ever helped the aliens.

This said, I had to adore the idea of the interviews to the locals in the beginning, which is just brilliant (especially in the previous short movie), the fantastic action skills of Sharlto Copley and his absurdly layered character, and most of all, the fact that the aliens' ship didn't land on the White House's roof...that was very refreshing, thank you.

In short, I love this movie. I think it could have been handled ten times better than that, but I still love it.

PS: I'm not making one vid per day, honestly. I just leave them resting in their folder for months before I decide to post...
