Scotland Diary | Part #2

Was still knackered when I woke up this morning, but considering our limited time here, we decided not to hang around and wait for the jetlag to pass. Breakfast was a Red Bull and a coffee before we headed out to the city. Some random internet cafe on Rose Street sees this second entry. It's surreal, because I know Rose Street was always one of Lachlan's favourite places for a pub crawl. It almost seems wrong being here without him.

[LOCKED] Beth wanted to go to a pizza place in Grassmarket for lunch, but I had to act like I didn't want pizza. Couldn't exactly tell her it was a stone's throw away from the jeweller I bought her engagement ring from and subsequently returned. Not sure if I can pull off avoiding Grassmarket for the whole trip, but I'll try my damnest. [/LOCKED]

We sat in Princes Street Gardens so I could have a smoke. I always loved the feeling of the Castle looming above me and the day was gorgeous, so the blue sky back drop was priceless. We got some great photos and video for Tara and Lachlan. Of course, Beth and I both knew we were in almost the exact spot where we had our first kiss. She seemed reluctant to note the fact out loud and I can't blame her. I know I haven't exactly been the most forthcoming with anything lately, but I'm getting there. The break up still hurts somewhere deep in my gut. She's back and we're pretty much officially back together, but there are still some scars there that will fade in time.

So, I mentioned it. How could I not? Just because we had a bad break up doesn't mean I am bitter over any moment we had together. It was one of the best nights of my life. [LOCKED] Again, I had to try and force away the thought that I was going to propose to her here. If I let that thought linger too long, I'd end up either crying or just downright depressed. Not a good way to start the trip. [/LOCKED] All I needed to say was "Old time's sake?" and we shared a smile and then a kiss like we had done that night. This time there was no rain, though. Only sunshine and warmth. Sounds kind of cheesy when I put it like that, but maybe it was just meant to be?
