Revealing the location of his spare key had actually been a notion of Riley’s well before the whole needlestick horror blew up in his face. ‘In case I ever get shitfaced again and you have to drag my drunk arse home,’ he’d joked to Lachlan shortly after arriving in Princeton. Lachlan had joked in return, promising not to break in too often to hoe into Riley’s porn stash. Lachlan never really thought he’d ever need to use it.
But a brief string of text messages with Riley the day before had Lachlan promising to visit that afternoon. He came around three, as promised, though his knocking received no answer. This in itself was odd because Riley had both Tabitha and Beth staying with him. It wasn’t like Riley to forget plans like this, though since the accident Riley was far from himself...
