For Cara's birthday, I took her to Boston and her first Red Sox game.
It couldn't have gone any better or worse.
We left around 10:30 to take the train and we made it into Boston around 11:30. We took the green line into the Arlington stop and went to Fire + Ice for lunch. SOOOO good. There were Yankees fans (don't know why) who were cooking their own food because there weren't many people in the establishment. I got two plates and Cara took one. DELICIOUS. (+++)
After that, we traveled down Boylston Street, looking around to shop. We made it to the Prue but realized that all that walking made us sooo sweaty. However, we did call Kevin and found out where the Johnny Cupcakes store was. We both spent 40 bucks on a single T-Shirt, but Cara got to meet Johnny Cupcakes himself. She was PUMPED. He was a really cool dude, too! AND, to top it all off, Quinn and Geoff were there, working! WOT. (+++)
Then it starts to slip. Cara's feet are killing her at this point and we're trying to figure out where Urban Outfitters was. We were walking the opposite way on Newbury Street, so we turned around and walked to it. It was terrribly long, but once we got there, we bought nothing. The shopping that we did today aside from Johnny Cupcakes was SO beat. (-)
Of course, I went lookin' for Scot's salon, just to find out that they had moved.... right across the street from Fire + Ice where we ate a few hours prior. So, it's about 4pm now - we meet up with Scot and he cuts my hair into something WAY better. (++)
And so we make our mecca to Fenway to watch the game. I don't think I've ever spent so much money there just to have a good time, but it was all well worth it. I spent like 10 bucks on the subway to get to where we needed to go, 30 bucks on a #22 Nick Green t-shirt (can't find them shits anywhere!) and about 20 bucks worth of food at the park. 7.50 for three hot dogs, 4 bucks for a soda, 4.50 for a thing of fries, and 5 bucks for an ice cream in a helmet. Shit's such a rip off. (-)
But, the game was SO intense. Our companions who sat around us were all nice people except for the smelly dude whose body odor ended up making the family next to us leave (hahahahahaha) and our seats were damn good! We pretty much saw everything = from Youk's two homers (one of which Cara declared right before he hit it!) and Ortiz's shot (I called that one on the 3-1 pitch haha) to the bullshit rally by Kansas Shitty in the 6th thanks to a shitty bullpen. Smoltz was AWESOME today, too, so I was going to be EXTREMELY pissed if we lost. Nope. We killed em. 15-9. All was good. (++)
BUT, getting home was a nightmare. Alex left the house to come pick us up when the game ENDED, so we had to go meet up with him. We told him to meet us on Mass Ave., but since he's been gone in Florida for so long, he depended on Jeremy's fucking GPS to find us - BIG MISTAKE. He didn't seem to find us until about an hour after we got out. Oh, and the whole time it was like massively raining outside so... it wasn't good. The drive home sucked, too, because the rain and the shitty handling of the minivan that I used to drive just wasn't doing it. (--)
But, it's all over now, and I'm glad that I got to hear my girlfriend say, "Thank you for the best birthday present ever!"
Makes me feel like I did something right, but I'm just glad to see my girlfriend this happy. <3
