General music rant
I was all alone without much to do at work today, so I wasted time thinking about things like, "If I could choose Dave Gahan or Morrissey, who would I marry? Dave is sexier, but I think Morrissey and I would be a better match." Obviously, I'm already married and neither Dave or Morrissey are exactly available, but I really took up a good part of my afternoon looking at Smiths/Depeche Mode pictures and videos.
I also found out that Marilyn Manson crapped out a "Personal Jesus" cover. Not only is he just doing covers (I know, I know, being a B-list rock star cuts in to song writing time...maybe he'll do a standards album!), but he's putting like zero thought into his choices. "Dude! I should do 'Person Jesus.' Cause, you know, I'm the anti-christ!" Pat Boone wanted to do something new and daring, so he put out a metal album. I doubt Manson will ever come up with anything that interesting. It also pisses me off that he's ruining a perfectly good song. It's just like those nu-metal bastards running around covering The Who and Fleetwood Mac like they actually have something to offer. Ugh. Seriously, I know writing songs is hard, but Lindsey Lohan finds someone to do it, why can't Marilyn Manson and Tantric?
Is $8 too much to pay for Duran Duran's wedding album? I really do want it.
